Top tips

Hi guys

Can you please list your favourite tips for both running and cycling? Pedalling technique, when and what to eat while riding, best way to grip hands while running, and anything else you can think of? I promise I will try out your recommendations!

Grasp your hands and run like a gun, Don't stop till you reach your limits.
Get out there and do it! No more excuses.

Works for me..:)

Running technique

Keep body your as close to straight up and down as you comfortably can. Leaning forward causes wear on the back and distributes your weight oddly. Plus it limits your distance. Try and keep your stride manageable. Longer strides wear you out. If you ever watch a marathon runner they exert as little effort as possible to sustain energy. run heel first and roll your foot to the toe.

Get good shoes. Best possible thing you could do. Nike sucks ass. Reebok is even worse. Plus they both practice poor human rights in their factories in Malasia.

Go with Mizuno, Brooks or the higher end Saucony or Asics.

Good luck.

As for bike riding, well biking is for wieners that cant run.

As for cycling, some basic tips are to keep a cadence of 80 - 90 (pros will go 100+), make sure your bike is adjusted correctly, alternate your hand grips frequently to minimize numbness, try to get a smooth circular pedal, not just pushing down. Spin classes help.

My hands go numb within the first 3 miles. I have to constantly rotate them and try to keep pressure off the outsides of my palms.

Cheer biys, I just ran with this guy and he had a very straight up and down posture. I was also wondering what C I should be aiming for.

I tend to get someone else to grip my junk when I get numb hands, but often the numb hands are great as it "feels" like someone else is griping my handle bar.

Also known as the "stranger".

I'll give one more tip on running. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you are running, adding mileage and staying injury free then don't try to alter your running stride too much. If its already working for you then stick with it.
