Took a week off? Is this a refeed?

Hi I've been dieting steadily since the New Year and this weekam taking my first week off (last Wed - Wed). Basically I had some big events which were going to be calorie suicide (wine tasting, cocktail party, dinner party) and since they are all close together, I figured that this might be the right time to just take a week off to refuel and relax. I'm half way through my weight loss goal and feel pretty good about it.

Anyway, reading up on refeeds specifies that you should eat protein and healthy things through it. But I have mainly taken my extra calories from desserts & alcohol.

Will this still count and raise my metabolism etc?

It's ok to have occasional cheat meals/days - but it shouldn't be a ticket to a week long free-for-all, you should still consume your 'unhealthy' selections in moderation while practicing portion control = after all you don't want to throw your results so far out the window.

A week seems a bit too long to take after having just started a program LESS than a full 3 months ago - a week is enough time for a bad habit to form - and could cause some people to get stuck for longer than a week.

Are you at least still exercising? You shouldn't stop everything.

Taking a week off won't "raise your metabolism". It doesn't work that way.

Don't stress about "refeeds" and things like that. If you want to take a week off, just try to be healthy about it.

You're thinking about this waaaaay too hard. Look at it from a realistic point of view - it's only a week. A week's worth of bad food isn't going to change the make-up of your body and how it works.

You'll be fine.

LOL

Thanks guys

I am still exercising and I'm trying not to go crazy about it. I haven't been eating everything in sight and have stuck to the plan pretty much but alcohol has a lot of calories and since I don't drink often I thought I should enjoy it.

And I have!

Back to the grindstone tomorrow!
