Too Much??

I do cardio for 25 minutes and I alternate between two different lifting routines for 20 minutes every day during the week. I have had some great weight loss and muscle build up and I am very happy with my success so far and I would like to start to kick things up a little. In addition to my normal workout, I was thinking of getting a set of dumbbells for my desk at work to blow off some stress and do some various types of curls or maybe to do some quick reps on the weekends. Nothing intense just some extra reps but I am wondering if doing these extra reps might be counterproductive. I know that you are supposed to allow your muscles to rest so I am not sure if I should do this.

'extra reps' doesn't mean anything. if the weight is too light, you're burning a few extra calories but no muscle mass.
if you're doing too much overall, you'll be tearing down the muscle and not giving yourself time to recover.

20 minutes of weights isn't much of a workout IMO, although you'd have to post your two alternating routines for us to give a real critique on it.

also, weights always come before cardio (it sounds like you do both in the same day, cardio first).
