Sport too much water

Can drinking a lot of water make the scale go up? Sometimes I feel if I drink a lot of water before I go to bed...in the morning when I weigh myself it can be different from days before.

well, a gallon of water weighs 8.3lbs.

however the more likely culprit is your diet still has a lot of sodium in it on some days, and increased sodium mandates the body store more water in the cells to balance the sodium levels.

yea it can make you gain weight..i've heard that @ anorexia clinics the patients will drink large amounts of water before they hit the scales so they can up a few pounds but i dont think you have to worry that much if you're sleeping on it.

Well, of course if you have a lot of water in your body at the moment you will weigh more. However, drinking more water actually makes you retain LESS water under yor skin. So don't stop drinking that water.

lol dont worry bout it; i lost weight by simply changing all my drinks to water. u know what they say you'll look better, you'll feel better; you'll be better.

Yes I guess water retention in your body makes you weigh more so just go to the toilet before you weigh yourself in the morning...but then when you sleep you don't eat and all the food in your stomach should have already been processed...means if you weigh yourself before and after meal makes your weight go up and down...when should we weight ourselves? When we're empty or when we're full? I'd say when we are full so our ideal weight would be really ideal even when we eat a lot :D

Cloud,

usually less than a week. the reason so many new dieters seem to lose 5lbs in the first week is due to all that water weight. shed a half gallon of retained water, and that's 4 lbs!
