Heres an interesting article I stumbled upom during one of my many google endevours. Apparently too much of a good thing really never is a good thing... even when it comes to water...

I guess it's true what they say, everything in moderation. I remember reading an article where a marathon runner actually died from drinking too much water before a race. Basically, his body just couldn't handle that amount of fluid he was drinking, and he was flushing out nutrients that his body needed. It's a logical fallacy we all fall into, I guess. We assume that if a little bit of something is good, a whole lot more must be better. It ain't always true ...

drink as much water as you feel you need

and my favorite discussion - barring any medical condition or medication you might be on - notice the color of your urine.. it should be pale yellow- that's how you know you're drinking enough water..

If you read the article it had nothing to do with athletes or water intoxication it has to do with it reducing the fuctionality of your kidneys in the long term...
 
I read the article. Thank you for sharing that. Even though it might be old news to some people it's good to be reminded of these things.

I often worry that I drink too much herbal tea and I am addicted to water. I try really hard to sip it during the day, I really shouldn't gulp it all down. I could drink 5 litres happily. I just have to control myself.

I love water too! ever since i was a kid i would drink huge glass after glass just standing infront of the water cooler sometimes. some people say theres no taste and they don't like it but IMO it has a refreshing taste like no other! infact i care to drink nothing else besides water and really dont feel like i'm missing out.
The reason I posted this is because I feel like I should constantly be drinking water based on what I read everywhere about the more water you drink the better. I was drinking like 5-6 bottles of water a day when in reality it should be more like 2 or 3. Also you dont think water could hurt you, for crying out loud it water! whats more pure in the entire world?! but it really can and while a lot of people drink too little water a lot drink way to much and you really dont need to, all your doing is potentially hurting your kidneys and whatever else in relation to that... regaurdless if other people think it's useless because it already been posted or something like it has. i know i havent heard of it or seen it and havent gone back a thousand threads to see if it has been posted. This is something i definately did't know and i'm sure im not the only one...
 
I hear ya. I love my water.

From what I have been told as long as you don't intoxicate yourself by drinking large amounts in one sitting your body can handle a fair bit of water over the day. Just sip it.
 
They will come up with any study to show a correlation.

One day they will say too much good food is bad for you!
