Sport Too much protein!

Sport Fitness
According to livestrong.com my recommended protein daily allowance is 35g, however from the 3 small meals I consume each day I always somehow go over. Today I have managed to eat 61g of protein and I've basically only had a salad sandwich and beans on toast with quorn sausages, so far. Is too much protein bad for you if your attempting to lose weight and if you do a combination of weights/ kettlebell, sit ups, push ups,etc all worked into an hour, how much of it is likely to be burned up?

Thanks :)

Im no expert but 35g of protein is very little. Where does it recommend you that much?

The amount of protein you need to consume is calculated mostly on your weight and exercise regime. Tell me, what's your weight and what type of exercises do you perform and how often?

I imagine the 35g is more of a minimum than a maximum. I usually eat at least 1g per lb of body weight but that easily goes up to about 1.5g if I'm focusing on my diet more closely.

There's a lot of evidence that suggests it takes more energy to process protein than carbs or fats so if anything a higher protein content in your diet will help your metabolism high

Just remember everyone, that when people recommend 1 to 1.5 grams of protein per lb of body weight, they are talking lean body mass. So if you are 200 lbs, but 20% bodyfat, based on the 1 gram rule you should be consuming 160 grams NOT 200.

Livestrong.com I gave my weight loss per week which is 1.5lbs and it gave me my daily recommended intake.

I have a journal of my diet, which also has my weight etc :) http://training.fitness.com/journal/l-hs-vegetarian-journal-2-48717.html#post416841

You are suppose to have 1 gram of protein per 1lb of bodyweight. If you are trying to gain muscle then you have to consume 1.5 grams or more per 1lb. If you are trying to loose weight, it is better you loose weight do High Intensity Interval Training 3 times a week, and moderate training 2 times a week. But you need protein and 35 grams of protein is starving your body. When you do that, you body will break down muscle tissue that you already have, and you need muscles to burn fat.

I would have to agree that 35 grams per day seems like a minimum.... a very low one at that. I'm not sure what you currently weigh, but i'm sure you could double that number and still be below the protein requirement to just maintain your muscle.

well i guess its safe to say livestrong.com is crap?

Normally, I wouldn't be inclined to think so, but 35g of protein per day?? That just seems so darn low...
