Too much Protein bad?

I'm in the process of bulking so I'm eating and downing protein shakes like crazy. All my food is healthy and none is junk food. However, I'm not one to be incredibly strict with my diet, meaning I don't count my calories or keep track of EXACTLY how much protein I consume in a day (I make a rough estimate) so to be on the safe side, I've been drinking like 5 protein shakes a day.

I figure that it's better to have more than enough (protein) than not enough when it comes to bulking. Do I have the right idea? Could I just continue downing 5 shakes a day in addition to my normal healthy diet to be on the safe side? Are there any side effects of consuming this much protein every day?

I'm feeling fine and I don't seem to be having any side-effects yet. The only bad part is that I'm going through protein containers pretty quickly but oh well.

This has probably been discussed before but I searched and I couldn't find the info I was looking for, any help would be appreciated.

P.S I weigh 157 and I'm 16 (going on 17) and I'm working out every day since I have the time.

Thanks

How much protein are you actually taking?

Too much protein can mean lack of carbs and healthy fats, so yes it matters.

We can't really help you without numbers though. :p

The more meticulous you can be with your diet - the better the result.

5 Shakes per day? I'd say that's way too much for you - but we don't exactly know what's in them, so it depends...

20 protein grams per shake so 100 grams daily of protein shakes + food.

My daily summer schedule consists of:

Breakfast: Healthy fiber cereal with lots of fruit + protein shake

-Work out-

Lunch: Usually some sort of pasta/spaghetti with vegetables. Once again, lots of fruit for desert + protein shake

Afternoon snack: Vegetables + fruit with dip + protein shake

Dinner: Some sort of meat, mashed potatoes and salad + protein shake

Before I go to sleep: Small bowl of soup + protein shake

That sums up my daily diet.

lol

Actually you seem low on proteins...

Unless you are getting an additional 60-70g in food.

I say lower amount of shakes and increase amount of food.

A portion of lean meat in each meal is a good base.

Wayyy too many shakes....

What made you decide to drink this many shakes dude?

:D

Your barely getting any protein from your food so I don't think the shakes are that out of line.

More meat and eggs in your diet.
