Sport Too Much Green Tea Bad?

Sport Fitness
Hi

I've just started having green tea instead of coffee/regular tea, and it's great - particular for dealing with any carb cravings.

But the thing is, I've been having like 10 cups a day. Is this too much, and is it going to cause any harm/disrupt my fatloss at all?

What's your opinion on green tea? I've looked over the forum, and everyone seems to think its great, but was wondering if you could give me some reassurance & any info on the bad side of this stuff :)

Thanks guys...

I did a lot of research on Green Tea, and some people even recomended drinking 8 cups of it a day. There really is nothing wrong with it, there is a TINY bit of caffeine in green tea, but thats it. If anything I think it would help with your weightloss, I drank a lot of it when I was losing weight.

Just my thoughts on it, though.

Green tea is pretty safe unless you have a heart condition. It is used during weight loss because it is a strong antioxidant and it boosts your metabolism. In fact, green tea is a very popular ingredient in weight loss pills and supplements. Just know that it's not some magical weight loss thing, you still have to exercise to get real results. Green tea can just help boost those results.

So yeah, drink away and good luck with your weight loss efforts.

Green Tea is very beneficial for getting quick abs and also it help us burning our fats very quickly...!!!
It also controls over body cholesterol level and reduces the factors causing heart attacks.. I use to take it twice a day..!! So I disagree with that statement that too much of taking it is bad..!!!

I'm a green tea junkie, you really can't have too much. A good way to experience green tea is by its vast variety. I drink jasmine, lotus, sencha, lung ching, kuding, pepermint, chamomile, ginseng. I've also tried out pu ehr(though technically thats red tea), oolong and gunpowder(funny name:)).

I have also only recently started having green tea, but have mine (1 cup) prior to going to bed at night (I have cut out coffee completely)

only prob that I can see is that the green tea (most) comes from Japan .... Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan is in meltdown, and spinach/milk/water etc in parts of Japan was recently found to contain radiation

not sure how this will effect the future supply of green tea, as if the water is contaminated, perhaps all crops will sufer?

(am just saying)

I drink about 4-5 cups a day... right now, I'm really into green ginger tea. I don't believe all the stuff about it boosting metabolism (at least not significantly) but I find it keeps me from snacking out of boredom.

wrong. There are as many green teas from other parts of asia, if not more. Of the teas i listed only the sencha is japanese. The others are chinese, vietnamese and korean. There are also south american and african teas i think like roobois and guarana and many western drinkable herbs such as chamomile, peppermint, john's wort, rosemary etc.

I like doing hybrids. My favorite, jasmine, lotus, chamomile and ginseng.

In my household, we make 1 to 2 gallons of iced green tea each day. Sweetened with the tiniest bit of sugar or stevia and it keeps us going. (I drink several glasses sweetened and waste only 30 calories in my diet plan.) When we brew, we often throw in a flavored tea bag (like blueberry or peach) for some added flavor. Now that I am following a diet plan, there is not much to drink anymore other than water and skim milk! I don't drink juices because of the sugar content and I quit cold turkey my favorite McDonald's sweet tea (did you know a large size has 700 calories - all from sugar?) and no sodas for me either thanks to ulcerative colitis.

i heard drinking 3 cups a day will soon have a build up from one certain toxin or weird substance i for got what it was exactly.

Yeah, something about too much tanins. Its a myth I think. Its partly true but you'd have to drink far more than 3 a day, or even 30 for that matter.:)

From my own experience I haven't witnessed any down sides with drinking green tea everyday. I've been doing it for about 2½ years and I haven't suffered from it yet so I think you won't do so either :)

For most people, there aren't any ill effects. However, it's important to be aware of your body and make sure it isn't reacting poorly.

My aunt began getting seizures from drinking green tea. But she wasn't yet totally convinced that it was causing them. One night she was driving home and had a seizure resulting in a fatal crash. It turns out that it probably was caused by green tea as it increases the likelihood of having seizures. If you are epileptic, think twice about green tea or even caffeine.
