To Supplment or not to supplement....

Hey everyone... i am fairly new here but been reading articles and such for a while... I used to weigh 228. I just joined a gym and do a basic workout followed by 30 min of cardio after 2 weeks i am down to 220 (thanks to diet). My main goal was to loose fat and gain muscle so since I had lots of fat I figured to try and loose fat first then try and bulk up.. Anyway just to give you a lil background on me..

now I am taking Creatine tablets, Soy Protein Shakes, and a CLA Supplment. Now I am thinking of experimenting with some other supplments such as
L-Arginine, Carnosine, Acetyl L-Carnitine, and switching my regular creatine to a CREATINE with ETHYL ESTER... what do you guys think???? any experience using any of these???

what i can tell you is that supplements never made or broke anyone's progress.

l-arginine will give you plenty of wood in the bedroom. for the gym its fairly useless unless you're a poser. if you eat meat, you have enough of the other two amino acids.

as for C-ethyl ester...is the C-monohydrate NOT working? because if its working, the CEE isn't gonna work any better. you need a smaller dose, but it costs more.

oh, and ditch the soy for some whey. the verdict is still out on whether soy is actually good for you, bad for you, or just average.

okay thanks for the replies okay as for the -

Arginine, i was thinkin of this because it is the main ingredient in all those NO products and I have read a fair amount of articles that say that stuff works good. (articles states NO helps blood flow to muscles) i kno it is also a active ingredient in viagra but i figure it makes sense more blood to muscles is more nutrients and creatine to muscles.. am i right or all juss hype??

creatine i use is the monohydrate... and it works good i juss happened to hear that the one with the ethyl ester is better and i am almost out of the creatine i had so was thinkin about tryin the ethyl ester one.. are they the same u r saying????

and as for the soy protein... i would love to take whey... i have read over and over and over whey is the best thing to take and has amino acids in it and what not.. also that casein protein is good to take but i cannot take either.. I am allergic to milk..and not the lactose i am allergic to the protein in milk so I am stuck with the soy.. so I hope it isn't bad for you... I never heard that before got any links i can read up on malkore ???

and I am sorry about not mentioning I do take vitimin supplments... I take a vitimin called juice plus for veggie and fruit daily... i have been always taken this even before i started going to the gym so I didnt think of mentioning it

any opinions on the Carnosine and Acetyl L-Carnitine???? I know these amino acids are in most whey shakes but like i said i take soy and has no amino's in it and i kno they are in red meat but i eat for tuna and eggs more then i do red meat.. so are they good to take???

yep, arginine is the active ingredient in NO2 products. if you do some research you'll find that NO2 doesn't benefit you in any way.

CM works, so why spend more money for ethyl ester? do you understand how creatine works? most people don't. creatine does NOT make you stronger, faster, or bigger. what it does is gives your muscles more potential for more contractions...its really more like an endurance thing. the more creatine stored, the longer you can keep doing repetitions.
indirectly creatine can help you get a better workout, so fi your diet is right, you can put on muscle faster.

so, there's not a good reason to seek a 'better' creatine form. if CM works for you, keep using it. CEE won't work 'better'...it absorbs better, but you still hit the same exact level of creatine saturation in the muscles.

Thanks for clearing that up for me... I will stick with my regular creatine.. so the NO stuff is all just hype?? It doesn't do anything.... I mean I read a coupe of articles and it looked good...i guess i just fell for the hype too...

what about the other amino acids... is there any benefits to taking them??? Like I said I dont eat a lot of red meats and they are not in my protein shakes, so I dont really get em at all... i mostly eat chicken and fish.. thanks for al lthe help
