TMI Question (involves nasty stinkiness and sweat)

This is a pretty nasty question - consider yourselves warned.

Anyway. I wash my gym clothes between workouts (I have three sets). After I work out I leave them on the edge of the bed of my truck to air dry in the parking lot (to prevent mildew).

I have recently been doing a lot of leg exercises - squats, lunges, calf raises, vertical leg press, etc . . .

And for some reason, when I am sweating a lot my vaginal area stinks, a lot. There is no burning, itching, discoloration or anything else that would indicate a problem and it isn't a problem when me and my husband have marital relations.

WTH is going on? Has anyone had this problem? I was thinking of getting some sort of deoderant spray, but I have heard that thye can cause infection.

Any information or suggestions is appreciated

 okay - you are being sufficiently warned about my response as well =)

Do you trim any of the hair in that area? I hadn't ever thought about it, my mom never told me anything about doing that when I was younger, but my friends said that trimming your "bush" will help with any sweat/smell/etc - it's the same concept as with your underarms... by shaving your armpits, there is less hair for the sweat to stick to, so it doesn't stick around and smell... I have one of those little bikini area electric shavers and I just trim the area, not shave it all off, but reduce the "bushiness"

wow... this is an interesting topic!

I didn't think I was particularly bushy, but I will give it a try.

Anyone have any luick iwth FDS type products?

Alot of those products can actually make you start itching and irritate you so I wouldnt really recommend them. I know FDS is made for that general area but I know that even douches bother me so I would be afraid to. You really dont want to spray any kind of perfumes down there either. I also would say to shave or trim whatever you prefer that may help. Maybe also you could wear some looser flowing workout gear allowing air to get through so you dont sweat in that area as much. Im not sure if I helped at all but just a few suggestions.

I agree... the less hair the better. I don't go "bald" but it's closely cut. I have a Remington Trim & Shape Bikini Trimmer that I really like. It has a guard and a dial so you can choose just exactly how close you want it. I got it at Walmart but I am sure that you could get it at any other store like that (Target, K-Mart, etc.)

And I have to agree with Amomono... very interesting topic!

Sometimes, its just unavoidable. I keep myself pretty short, but the long and short of it is that sweat stinks ;) You can try wearing "breathier" shorts or something like that, but sometimes all that'll help it is a good shower after exercising, same as with any kind of sweat.

Red - does it smell fishy? if so ask your doctor to check you for a vaginal bacterial infection - this isnt thrush - its name is vaginosis and it is an infection ladies sometimes get! it can be treated easily but i would mention it to your doctor anyway

I agree with some of the other advice in the thread. Wear 100% cotton panties, trim or shave (I prefer to get creative there), and if a shower is out of the question, a wet washcloth will freshen you up just fine!

Do you have urine leakage? It is common among women.
