Hi guys,
Want to share my take on it and what has been working for me. I am 27 yo. I never had problems with weigh until a 6-month period in my life that happened when I was 23. I had a lot of stress then and I had a few girls around me all the time that were always looking at the ingredient list no matter what they were eating and trying to keep their weigh in check. Then I was eating mostly sweets, bread with butter and cheese, crackers with cheese and meat. My friends couldn't believe how I could eat sow much sweets and stay skinny. I'd always laugh about it. But somewhere along those 6 months I took on their judgements and started to watch what I was eating ( calories, sugar content). That's when i started to gein weight.......and struggle with it.........and prevent myself from eating what I loved and tried to eat healthy .......... then finally going crazy on sweets and all the other food that i deprived myself of..........and gain more wight right after I start eating normally again.... and feel guilty every time I did it......... and on and on it went.Does it sound familiar to you? It was miserable! No joy...no life...just struggle in my head. Recently I came to the point where I just can't fight it anymore. I just eat what I want but with one more change which I will tell you about in a min. I eat anything I want know, I stopped fighting and I noticed I lost weigh.
I see now that everything is in our heads. My boyfriend LOVES ice-cream! and eat it almost every day and dont feel guilty about it. he also eats everything else as well. And he's very skinny. In the past when I would try to push my jydgements about what food is good and what not on him he'd say" I don't care about it. It's your judgements. You can keep them . I dont want that . I know I can eat whatever i want to eat and I am not going to gain weight." I think I get it now.
So what i do now is I don't deprive myself of anything at all. But I eat smalled portions. and it comes naturally for me. When I would be on a diet or something, I would not let myself eat what i wanted and of course I would want them even more when i get off diet. So I would pig out like crazy. stuffing myself up until pain in my stomach.
If what I am talking about is familiar to you and you think there is some value to it. Try this : every time you want something, go get it, but dont stash up. get it just enough for one light meal.(or if you are at a restaurant , take half of your portion to go). So eat a little portion, chewing and tasting and really enjoying your food a lot! ( not in front of the tv or smth). Also talk to your food sometimes thanking it for it's delicious flavor and for the energy it's giving you. Stop eating before you are full. That's it. It works. Try it. Also you will feel content in 10-15 min. If in an hour you feel hungry again repeat the same thing. Your stomach is going to be getting smaller and smaller getting used to smaller portions and you will feel full with smaller portions too.
Try it . let me know how it works for you.
If anybody is interested let me know and I will write about some other tips I use to get my digestive system going etc.
Enjoy your life!
