Tired Legs

Hello. I am coming to this forum because something is going on with my body and I wanted to grab some other opinions. I am 25, 6'2" and 175lbs. I don't lift weights...never really have, but I play basketball about 4 times a week every week so I have a slender build to myself. Within the last few months during my basketball games and such, my legs have felt increasingly weak while I am playing. I am usually able to dunk a basketball, but now it seems as I can barely get any lift off a jump shot and being as quick running around as I am accustomed too. I have always been fairly quick, but it's bad enough where I just don't have the power in my legs that I had 6 months ago.

I am attributing this to a few reasons. One is that I have been drinking alcohol a lot more, especially on the weekends than I should be so I think it is making me pretty tired during the week. I also have not been eating well, fast food...you know, foods to that nature. Also, I don't move around a lot work since I am in IT and on a computer all day. Lastly, I usually don't get to sleep until 1am to 2am and am waking up at 9:30am. I would think that would be enough hours of sleep, but maybe not.

Anyways, I am sure these are all contributing factors, but I would like to know others opinions and if there is any other ways to fix this problem other than, "Stop doing the above". Thanks for reading.

If your having tierd legs every day, you really need to change something- it will not go away until you do. But if its just a one off, try lying upside down for 20-30mins, (in a sauna if you can) as this helps lymphatic drainage ehich is what can make legs feel tierd.

But aside from water retention, your legs are likely to feel tierd as the muscles have not had time to heal. If you continue to train on legs with fatigued muscles, you risk overuse injuries such as shinsplints and the like, this can mean you have no choice but to rest- only if your not sleeping properly, they will take even longer to heal and you could find yourself off exercise for a very very long time.

You need to make changes to your lifestyle if you want to continue to exercise and don't want things like tierd legs. Your coordination, your mood and your appetite will also be affected in due course. This will make it difficult to stick to a diet and even to do things like drive or at times, walk in a straight line. You really need to be careful or you could end up with things in a bad state if you don't look after your body. Boring yes, but also essential.

@summer123; good advice! he should really change his lifestyle and take time to relax and heal your leg muscle and do leg training or join some programs like training. That training really helps me strengthen my leg muscle and make me feel more comfortable of myself.

Make sure you drink milk because your bones might be getting weak from not enough calcium in your system. When there is no calcium in you blood, it takes it from the bones. Alcohol also breaks down bone tissue. You might be gaining weight from the alcohol and bad food your eating which is why you can't run as fast or dunk as well along with weak bones. Sleep is very important if you have exercised played sport etc. Average amount of sleep is 8 hours, if you don't give your body a good amount of sleep, you will feel fatigue the next day because your muscles need more recovery time. To help recover your muscles drink a protein shake after basketball or high GI food that consist of protein and carbs. Tony D
