Tip for takeout orders?

Hi. My wife and I order out now and again and may times I pick up the order at the restaurant. I always hesitate when I go to sign the receipt because I am not sure if I should leave a tip or not. I typically do not - I feel like noone has had to service me so I feel like I am just paying for the food. Am I wrong? I would love to hear some opinions.

Yeah, i wouldn't worry about the tip... I don't know that i have ever ordered take out from the restaurant... but if they aren't delivering, and they aren't waiting on you - then it's not a big deal.
 
depends on the buffet, sometimes they get your drinks, and when your done with your plates theyll take them away, I go through like 5 plates when I go to a buffet so a tip is in order
 
I don't tip for pickup. In my opinion, that's not what the tip is for. I agree errtu, the buffet situations depend. If I'm at a buffet where the person is quick on refills and such, I'll tip. I just don't tip as much as I usually would. Another good example is the hot dog stand. :) And of course I tip there too (although I don't go very often, thank goodness!)
