Tingling in my hands and feet??

Hey all....

Lately, I've been working out 6 times a week... Saturday being my rest day.
Well, I've noticed tingling in my feet before when doing cardio on the eliptical and stair stepper. Today the gym was closed so I run around the track --I do this every Sunday ...I also go up and down the bleachers. (Run 9 laps.... walk 3...up and down the bleachers several times) Well, today I felt tingling in my feet AND my hands. It did this last week too but only in my hands. What could be causing this? Is it dangerous?

Thanks in advance. :p

Did it feel bad or good. It could be testosterone, but I don't know.

he didn't say steroids though. Testosterone is just one of the primary male hormones. I'm not sure, could it be overtraining? Are you full of energy everyday or do you sometimes feel sluggish on many days? I would mix in some rest days or you could try for a few weeks to have some rest days and see if the tingling still occurs. I know you don't want to break your routine though so it's a tough one.

oh sorry, I didn't notice that. But girls do have testosterone and guys do have estrogen, just not as much as the other one. There's a balance of some kind. Well since you're female, there's a whole other group of possible answers so I have no idea.

mm tingling sensations (pins and needles?) can also meen that something is compressing on the nerve.. i sometimes feel it too during my rugby training when my calve muscles arent very strong n fit (mostly beginning of a season) i also feel it on the crosstrainer.. there are nerves in the foot n leg of course.. what COULD happen (still looking into this) is you overtrain your muscles.. or you train them more then usual.. the muscles tighten and could impinge a nerve which can result in the tingling feeling in the feet. this also for the hands.. the nerves can be impinged in numerous places: scaleni muscle, minor pectoral muscle, space between clavicula and first rib, muscles of the lower arm.. for instance in the shoulder it could be that you do a lot of stuff above shoulder level? which could impinge a nerve.. or again overtraining..causing muscles to tighten and impinging nerves...

try and stretch your muscles before and after you train and see if that helps

i noticed that my feet get tingly when i rollerblade and i think this is because i lean too far forward when i rollerblade. I think it happens when i run too. I think it could be happening from less circulation getting down there. And i get tingly hands when i run because they always in the same position above my waist when i run. If you loosen and tighten your grip or move your arms from its natural position to lower by the waist every once in awhile to get the blood circulating more, i think that should work a bit better i think.

I agree with PhysioDude & Possible - try paying close attention to your running method - do you make sure you're getting full ROM in your ankles/feet, shoulders/arms? Ellipticals & Steppers can decrease ankle ROM because you are always pushing down on the peddals. Do you hold your shoulders "tight" while running - you should keep them "loose & relaxed" & use more of your arms. Exaggerate your shoulder movement while running - make sure you get that shoulder thru its full ROM from forward to back. And always s-t-r-e-t-c-h everyday!! Helps loosen & lengthen those tight muscles.

drink more water! u should drink 1+ gallons a day ;D
