Timing for supplements vs workout?

After reading some other threads, I got two new questions.

For supplements JUST around work out time, I usually eat a protein bar (approx 20g protein) right before I begin working out. Then I have a shake with two scoops and skim milk (approx 53g protein) about 15-25 min after work out (the time it takes me to get back home after the gym).

Q1: Am I eating the protein bar too close to work out time? Should I be spacing it out further ahead?

Q2: How long can I wait after my workout for the shake? Am I cutting it too close?

Thanks for the help!

#1. Timing isn't a big issue, as long as your have a good mix of clean foods in your system already. If you eat well, and eat consistently, you should be fine. If the bar makes your stomach hurt (which I cant see why it would) then obviously don't eat it right before. I'm sure that bar has some carbs too, which you obviously need for energy.

#2. Within an hour. I usually have a shake immediately after. But the 15-25 should be fine, your body is still absorbing at that point.

most protein bars suck though, and I'd try to eat more like 45-60 mins pre-workout, so you don't have a full stomach.
