Time To Start Again

New to the site and hoping to turn to this forum for motivation and insight into some nutrition. I am currently saving up for a GYM pass, but will be doing cardio and playing with dumbbells until that day comes. I went from 180lbn to 145lb without a GYM so my motivation is present in the meantime.

Was 135lb throughout high school

125lb when I had a serious stomach bug at age 18

Built up to 180lb during a serious spout of depression, noticed the 180lb mark on the scale at age 23

145lb when I tried to improve my life through exercise, positive thinking, and working through the trauma I have endured at age 25

174lb set back during a torn ligament, depression, stressful situations, later bruised kidney and rib from a fall. A few weeks away from being 27 years old

Now I am trying to lose 34lb by August and maintain a healthy life, no matter what issues life throws at me. Eating unhealthily is a temporary solution to bad times that can cause long term problems.

Welcome to the forum.

I hope that your injuries are fully healed before you start exercising again - as you really need to consider injuries before embarking on an exercise plan. If so - you can do a great deal with cardio and dumbbells.

Having dieted successfully in the past - you probably know a lot about such things - but there is a lot of useful information in the pinned posts - so stuff well worth reading.

Check out the clubs and challenges as they may help you. They can give you ideas and help you meet people working on similar things.

Start a diary and visit other people's diaries, see what they are doing and cheer them on. With luck they may return the favour.

My torn ligament is not fully healed or atleast, it does not feel as it once did. I do not think it will ever feel as it once it, I mean, a year has passed.

One struggle I am having is, I am eating healthier but I tend to always feel hungry. Right now I am about to go for a jog, but the hunger is uncomfortable. I ate only two hours ago, had a smoothie(one banana, handful of berries, handful of spinach, soy milk) with granola, which would of definitely kept me satisfied the first time I lost weight. So, I just had a small dish full of kidney beans with crushed black peppers on top. I am still hungry! I don't even want to jog, just want to go to the store and buy a bag of pasta. Odd thing is, I have not had pasta in a very long time and was never that much of a fan of it since I was told that PCOS and gluten don't go well together.

I forgot if the initial eating healthy process was uncomfortable. I do not recall being so hungry.

Any chance that you are mistaking something else for hunger... It is well recognised that people are apt to mistake feelings of thirst for being a feeling of hunger. Are you drinking enough water. 1 fluid ounce for every 2 pounds that you weigh is often suggested by authorities.

Another thing I can think of is that I get a feeling very much like hunger when I get indigestion... Does it go away if you suck one of the common indigestion remedies?

I do not have indigestion, but perhaps I was so hungry as I was use to eating huge portions and a lot of greesy, cheesy goodness...I mean, badness!

Friday is here and I am really starting to struggle. My friend and I are going to watch NBA and the thought of warm, homemade walnut brownies sounds too good. Maybe because it is Friday, but today I have been craving all sorts of things. Pizza, brownies(I don't even like brownies), ice cream, egg salad sandwich, beer, wine, root beer float. Six days away from my period may be playing a part in all this. :-0

Which ligament? and did you follow a rehab program after the injury ? most people can fully recover from torn ligaments if the surrounding muscle is strengthened appropriately. If no or inadequate rehab was done then extra attention will be needed for the area as you start returning to exercise.
