Sport Time interval between meals, and drinks.

Well, lately, from the advice of a fellow weight...lifting...guy, I've realized how little protein I get in my diet, and decided to double it to 200g~. (Thanks Wolvie! =D )

But I've been troubled by a little question that I cannot answer. I read that the body can only intake about 40g of protein at one given time, and very well, I abide.

But how long until all of this protein is stored, or until I can intake more of it? Also with drinks. I drink about 1L of milk for about 36g of protein as a meal substitute when I am in a hurry to the gym. (Sorta busy, so I have to run home, drink it, and catch the bus right after. =P )

Help would be greatly appreciated. ;)

I've heard and agree, that around 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

Well if you think about it things like milk are absorbed slow, while other, more simple proteins, are absorbed faster. So technically you're not getting it all at once. I try to stay below 60g at one sitting, and there are no studies to confirm anything about a 'protein limit'. I think you'd be fine getting as much as you can, whenever you can. Protein RIGHT when you wake up, RIGHT after you get done lifting, and before bed (milk, or other casien), and everywhere in between.

you can eat protein 1 hour before workout, but for maximun advandtage i recomend (i`m not a pro!) you eat like fish and a smashed potatoes and then a protein shake... that will be great!

so it will be like 1 hour before, 1 hour during the gym and another 1 hour after that...;)

right, there is nothing to suggest that we can only ingest 30-35-40 or whatever grams of protein per meal. thats a myth

theres no evidence supporting its truth. will brink once offered a reward to anyone (researchers, scientists, doctors, trainers, trainees, etc) who could provide proof that we could only digest a certain amount of protein at a time.

no one could. but that being said, its not more is better. 20-50 grams of protein per meal is a good amount to aim for, doubling that is not worthwhile. :)
