Hey I was wondering if anybody has any ideas of how long some foods will last in the fridge. or if you have any links to sites that'll tell you.

Pasta sauce
Onions
Tomatoes
Bagged Salads
Lettuce

Just curios because I'm wondering if I should go for big jars or smaller jars. $$$ is limited right now for me. :( Thanks in advance

A lot of it depends on the fridge -and how the item is packed.

I've had lettuce/salad stay for up to two weeks in the back of the fridge wrapped in paper towels...

Tomatoes I would never refridgerate as it tends to dull the flavor - they stay for maybe 2 - 3 days on the countertop.

Onions - (weird Mal tip here) get an old pair of pantyhose this is a good use for stockins with runs in them) and drop the onions into the legs - and tie htem off one by one -so that the onions are not touching each other - Hang in a dark place - and they'll stay for months (same trick for taters as well as l ong as they don't touch each other -tehy'll keep forever.

Opened pasta sauce will keep for 3 -5 days in the back of the fridge.

I'd just freeze the unused pasta sauce.
I also freeze diced onions.

As far as bagged salad they have some chemical in them and they seem to turn quicker than an acutal head of lettuce.
