Tight clothes helps loose skin?

As I've been losing weight (20 lbs so far) I notice my skin is getting looser and saggy in my belly, butt, and breast area. I've always been large chested (currently size 38G) and am hoping some of the boobage shrinks away as I drop the pounds.

My question is this: Will it help the skin tighten up if I wear something tight to hold the skin in better? For example spandex biker shorts and a sports bra 24 hours a day.

Thanks!

Tight Clothing

Hi Tig

Wearing a bra 24/7 may help prevent the dreaded droop (got that from "what not to wear"), but tight clothing (like tight fitting jeans) can actually weaken your muscles. Not good.

Try using a product like unrefined shea butter - that might help with the loose skin. I love shea butter. The unrefined is really the only kind you want.

Otherwise, the skin will eventually return to its normal 'fit' around your body. Don't worry.

lose skin is skin which has been stretched and the elasticity has not made it spring back to being tight. It happens if skin has been stretched over a prolonged period or through age. As yet there is no known cure, only surgery (skin tuck). Some people use creams and rate them highly but tbh your not going to get a dramatic difference with any creams as they cannot penetrate at a level which will have any impact on the eeked out density of the skin. Exercise, fish oils, massage are also similar- can help but no dramatic difference, theres no harm in trying though.

Don't go via the tight clothes idea though, your more likely to cause yourself all sorts of circulation issues which will not look or feel good at all, you may end up with skin sores, bruises, cellulite and numb body extremeties. Once in a while on a night out maybe but not everyday. There are links to weraing too tight underware and cervical cancer.

Thanks for the replies.

Summer123 - I had not heard about the link between tight undies and cervical cancer before. Interesting to know...

Skin is a living organ. Period. If you take care of it, and supply it with nutrition, its going to respond. Granted its not going to snap back overnight, but there are ways to help expediate the natural recovery of loose, stretched skin.

Mainly, make sure you are getting enough water to keep the your body hydrated. Eat a balanced diet, making sure you hit all protein/carb/fat macros. Combine with shea butter to keep skin nourished. Lastly, if you smoke, cut it out.

nice post....i was wondering the same thing?? because i have lost so much weight...87pds so far...the extra skin is aWEFUL.......i hate it so much...but what can u do....i have found it looks a little better getting a tan...haha lol=) so at least for the summer ill feel good....and if this helps u any...i did only cardio until i got do a pretty good weight then i added in strength training...and doing weights...and then i really noticed a difference...i was toning up big time!!!! and started to see muscles!!! i was scared if i did that when i was heavy that i would build muscle asnd still be very big....is that dumb thinking? is that possible? let me know if anythings working for u....maybe ill try the shea butter....

I'm gonna say something that may be contraversial. I'm also new here. So it's not a good mix.

1.) At my gym there was this trainer who was super skinny and lanky, but in a pretty way, because she still had curves in the right places. She had a baby and immediately began wearing this... um.. brace? It's like a right elastic cloth that's about half a foot in width, and it has like a hook/clasp thing on both ends. So she tied it TIGHT around herself for weeks, while she lost the baby weight, and voila, she doesn't have that signiture 'pouch' under the belly button from the stretched skin of the pregnancy.
On The Other Hand: Her pregnancy was a temp thing obviously, so the natural elasticity of her skin would have ensured her tight belly anyway. In theory.

2.) A trainer explained to me that when we have saggy, loose skin, it's only because inside the skin... there's loads of fat attached. So the skin is saggy because the fat isn't attached to the muscle, it's just lines the inside of the skin and weighs it down. The only way to battle that is by toning up (doing weights).

3.) Arms are notorious for remaining saggy after weight loss, so I 've crafted this handy brace type thing for both my arms. I shall update you after I lose 50.

UPDATE: Wow, I just realized that I totally did NOT answer your question. Um, your butt will tighten itself with toning, I doubt tight clothes will have any affect there. To be honest, the butt is kind of the easiest part of the body to tone. Your belly, yeah wear a brace sorta thing if you can, or perhaps the Spanx 'swimsuit' model. The Spanx swimsuit will keep your belly flat while you lose the weight and your breasts held up high. As for the sports bra, if you buy a high-quality one that stays tight even after a week's usage, I definitely think that'll help prevent any further boobage sage.
