This was how I ate

I never knew eating only once a day was the cause of my weight gain my lack of energy and the reason I felt weak all the time till I just read it in the body for life book. It is a horrible way to try to lose weight, when I was doing it I wasn't trying to lose weight it was just the way I ate. Know I know eating this way you lose muscle and you developenutrient deficiencies that causes your metablism to go haywire. So it is certainly not the way to go.

Yep that’s exactly how I used to eat. I just never thought about eating. By the time you make sure the kids are fed and you do everything that needs to be done there just isn’t much time to think about yourself. Now is the time to start though, good on you.

Good for you for making a change :) alot of ppl eat like this and dont understand how damaging it can be to our bodies. we need food as fuel for energy. that means we should feed our bodies every 2-3hrs about 6-7xs a day. small meals that are balanced. that way we get energy through out the day. our metabolism stays reved up and we burn more cals this way. starving ourself is not the key to weight loss. Congrats Lawst! :)

I can honestly say that I did lose weight (50 lbs) by eating once a day and it was breakfast only and lots and lots of water. And I liked the way I looked.... but..... I was always tired and I seemed to always be in a bad mood and when I did start eating more than one meal a day the weight came running back to me and so here I am again 50 lbs heavier. I agree that eating only one meal a day is the WRONG way to do it even though some people, like me, lose the weight fast. Now, I am on my way to a thinner, healthier and HAPPIER me, but this time I am trying to do it the right way.

I have been eating two meals a day now for several weeks and feel great. Clearly not everyone can do this but it works for me. I eat breakfast and lunch and then call it quits until the following day. It was a little hard at first but I do it almost without thinking now.

The meals aren't the same everytime but they often include things like rice with mixed veggies, tofu, fried fish, kimchi, dumplings (veggie and/or pork), miso soup, rice porridge, or rice noodle soup with veggies and tofu. Each meal is in the range of 700-900 calories. On rare occasions I migh have some bread and cheese or yogurt with fruit and honey as well.

I might also point out that as time has passed I find that I eat breakfast around 9 or 10 in the morning and have "lunch" at maybe 2 or so in the afternoon. I didn't originally plan it this way but my body has moved into this routine. Even though I might get up at 6 or 7 in the morning, I often don't feel ready to eat until a little later. It is the same with my second meal. Noon seems too early to eat lunch so I wait, sometimes without realizing it, until later to eat when I actually feel hungry.

You're right. & Once you don't eat alot for awhile, your body goes into starvation mode, causing everything you eat to be stored away.

How many calories per day constitutes "starvation?"
