Thinking about stopping creatine...

I'm thinking I want to stop taking creatine because it just forces me to have more simple carbs than I want - I am still on a cut 10-15 lbs to go - I had the initial expected water-weight gain and I am now back to the weight I started before starting creatine, but I have not been able to shed the last remaining lbs of lower belly-fat. I think this is due to the extra simple carbs I have to take with the creatine.

Should I do this to speed my cutting along, or should I be satisfied that despite not losing the lower bellyfat, I am still losing weight - and maybe I should be patient that it will come with a little more time?

you don't have to take carbs with creatine.. thought high GI carbs does increase absorption, I think. Are you still going to be using a PWO shake when you're cutting? If so, then just have the creatine with that.

Karky is right. skip the carbs. they help with absorption but are not required.

your best bet is to take the creatine post workout, as weight training stresses will cause an insulin spike on their own.

That said, you should NOT be afraid of simple carbs post workout. Even on a cut I toss 20g of dextrose into my PWO shake. Your glycogen stores will thank you for it.

Thanks for the info guys - I have been taking the creatine in my PWO shake - I will skip the carbs and rely on the natural insulin spike from the workout - this makes me feel better. Oh, and I will return to the banana instead of juice PWO for some carbs.

Another thing I've been doing recently is taking 2.5 grams in the AM and 2.5 grams after my evening workouts in my PWO shake. My thinking is that splitting it up might result in more being absorbed and less wasted as creatanine - if I'm right and more will be absorbed then maybe it will result in less bloat - although, I do feel less bloat as time goes on - I remember to drink LOTS of water.
