Think I need a challenge

Hi,
I have recently lost 10 kilos are part of a magazine makeover where I had a personal trainer and healthy eating plan. BUT since it's all finished I am rapidly going downhill and need something to motivate myself to get back into things. I was thinking of perhaps a fun-run?? The City to Surf is on in 2 months but I have no idea whether it's achievable to set my sights on doing it. I want a challenge but I don't want to set myself up to fail either. Is a 12km run possible do you think or should I look for something easier? I haven't done much running before.
Any help or suggestions please???
