Thigh chafing...

Hey all, I started to up my running days since starting on the cutting cycle. Anyways, it has been a while since I have run regularly, being on a bulk and all. I forgot how susceptible my thighs are. I hate this ****, I am an excellent runner, excellent endurance, but the one damn thing bothering me is the skin on the inside of my upper thighs, groin area. On both inner thighs, it gets real irratated and will get red and rashy from a 3 mile run. I surely can't be the only one to have been bothered by this! Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? It's gotta be some kinda cream that won't sweat off, and stays pretty resilient...I'm about ready to get some ball joint grease from my garage...

Get some baby powder and put it on before you go for your run, should clear it right up. :)

Do you wear compression shorts? They keep the skin to skin contact to a minimum for me and I havent had any problems with chafing. My old CC buddies used to use a sort of lubricant called Power Glide I believe. As I remember though, it was sort of on the expensive order and a cheaper alternative was just vaseline.

Hmm, compression shorts? I definitely do not wear them, but I will look into them asap. I was also planning on trying to just use some vaseline, but I'm afraid it will rub off quickly. Guess I'll just try it out. The shorts sound like a more permanent fix though...

I wouldn't suggest powder... at least not when you are heading out... once you start to sweat it will make things worse... compression pants are a good idea... The product mention before is called "body glide"

vaseline helps a great deal during the healing part of chafing. I run into the same issues as you do (no pun intended :D ); and in my case, if I lift up my shorts a bit, so they sit on higher on my waste, I can eliminate any skin rubbing.

You should buy some under armour type undershorts to wear. They help me when I had that problem in the Marines.

Use vaseline, or body glide as well. It does help. Ive even heard of people using Vagisil...but I personally wouldnt hahaha

Almost certainly try the compression style shorts, they are a bit like cycling shorts. I started running again recentlt and suffered from chaffing straight away I bought some Nike shorts designed especially for the purpose and haven't had the problem since.

You'll look a bit gay though unless you wear something over the top of them.

Anti-Monkey Butt Powder

I work with the Anti-Monkey Butt Team, and all biases aside, I give this powder my full rec for fighting that raw chafing sensation

We've sent this stuff to countless runners, bikers, and athletes, and nearly everyone has positive reviews- it's got calamine and talc which gives it a cooling sensation instead of the burning that you might get from other products.

Try sprinkling some on your inner thighs before or after the long ride, as well as any other place that may give you trouble

I buy compression shorts at a local running store for chaffing on my thighs and other parts. I have to wear them on any thing over 5 miles or so. THey do the trick.

If you have a pair of Speedo jammers, not the mankini style, but the ones that end just above your knee, wear those under loose shorts (or if you are confident enough, go without the loose shorts).

Have you tried petroleum jelly?
It's what my dressings (jelonet) were coated in when I had severe burns to my back, it protects, heals, moisturises and prevents any friction to the area

I'm an idiot:rolleyes:
