The weight just won't come off anymore

Hello everyone like my sig says I started at 307 and now when I wake up in the morning Im somewhere between 210-215 and I just cant seem to drop.

I eat around 1500 - 2000 calories everyday and try to spread it out over 5-6 meals.

My fat seems to be gathering around my stomach and love handles and it just wont go down...my love handles come out near as wide as my shoulders I have a major pear shape going on.

3x a week I exercise 3 hours with the football team which is split between 1 1/2 hours of weightlifting to build muscle and 1 1/2 hours of conditioning running and cardio.

With all this I would expect to still be losing, but I'm not am I doing something wrong? am I building muscle as fast as I lose weight? have I reached a point where I just won't lose weight as fast anymore?

A general day for me diet wise would be
Breakfast: Bowl of cereal with some milk
Snack: A Banana or peice of fruit
Lunch: 1-2 Turkey burgers
Snack: Another banana or fruit
Dinner: Whatever is being cooked

And its all I can do to eat 1500 even though my trainer said I should really boost up to 2000 for my size.

Any suggestions for me?

up ur calories to 3000

1. what kind of cereal are you eating?
2. are you using any kind of program to track your calories and other nutrients?
3. What is a usual dinner?

your diet seems to be really light on fiber and protein.
You are doing a ton of working out, so your body is going to need those extra calories.
IN order to build muscle, I beleive you need to have additional calories not cut them too dramatically.

(but then again, I'm not expert)

Funny you would say about the fiber Mal, I actually eat high fiber cereal, trust me I learned...uh "the hard way" low fiber was bad.

Um a typical dinner is probably anything from some burgers, steak, fish, pizza, etc...lol nothing specific

And also starting August 1rst Ill be practicing about 5-6 hours a day for about 2 weeks should I boost my calories up to 2000-2500 for those days?

Assuming that you have indeed stayed between 1500 and 2000 calories throughout the entire 10 month duration, it may just be that enough time has passed to allow your body to adapt to the reduced calorie intake.

Plus, you are down to 210, which means that 2000 calories a day is a heck of a lot closer to your maintenance than it was when you weighed 300+.

I might possibly suggest a re-feed at this point, however I do not yet know enough about that to actually advise it. I do know that you dont just increase your calories all at once, and that you will probably have to accept that it will take a little bit of time before you can start the fat loss again.

I would like to note that if you were to drop your calories any further in an attempt to force some more weight loss, that you would only worsen your current situation. a 210 pound male doing the amount of exercise that you are doing should be able to lose weight with an average daily intake as high as 3000 calories. Depending on the intensity of your workouts and the activity you do, it may even be higher.

Also, when you start your doubles practices in august, again depending on the intensity, you may find yourself able to lose weight on 4000 or more calories.

Lastly, how long have you been stuck around 210-215? there is always the chance that you are just not being patient enough. if it has only been a week or so, take some time to learn about a re-feed and if it fits you and see if in that time the weight comes off. I see in your sig that you want to look good by the 07-08 school year, and while we are all guilty of setting goals (not neccesarily bad thing there), we have to remember that if we want true success, we have to let our body do this thing on its own time, not on some arbitrary date we set in our minds. Perhaps you are already aware of this, but it never hurts to reinforce it.

To sorta answer you CC I've probably been fluctuating between 215 to 220 for about 3 weeks now...but this morning hey hey 214 :p but anyway.

I got my body composition today and it seems Im at about 20% body fat atm and the average for my age is 16% so I'm getting close.

And apparently my stomach is where all my fat is...which I already knew unfortunately I dunno what to do about it besides give it some time

Start a new thread on re-feeding and see if some of the more knowledgable people can offer some advice on whether that route would be a good idea. Youre going into hell week for football soon, and i would think that would be a great time for a re-feed since you are going to be getting so much exercise anyways. But i am not a re-feed expert by any means.

It sounds to me as if your suspicion about the added muscle mass offsetting the fat loss is spot on.

If your body composition shows 20% fat then it's likely to have been improving all the while. As was suggested earlier your fat loss has slowed because your calorie deficit has decreased in lockstep with your total weight.

But you have been adding lean muscle mass. So at the moment you are at a point of equilibrium. Plateau.

I would up your calorie intake (healthfully) to support your lean muscle gain (you may be starving) keep up the workouts, step away from the scale and have your body composition done again in a month. The added muscle will increase your metabolic rate, allowing you to burn more calories round the clock, so the fat loss will continue.

Sounds as if you are doing great, but your expectations need some minor adjustment.
