The Story Of An Overweight Person

“Can You Dig It!!”

I have found myself in a world that just did not seem to be me. I was born November 22nd 1964 in the great city of Chicago. I weighed in at 9lbs 5 oz and have gotten larger over the years. By late 2003 I had hit my highest weight ever at 301lbs. I was miserable, I felt sick, I felt like I was alone and up the creek without a paddle. I was looking for away to a new me. I had the worst eating habits of anyone I knew. I was also a chain smoker. I had been visiting doctors for years and hearing the same thing time after time and it always went in one ear and out the other. What a shame that was, I also thought, well am fine I will lose the weight sometime or someday, some how. I will make it.

In January 2004 I joined the Rec-Plex facility in Pleasant Prairie Wisconsin. I was ready to go, so I thought… I lost 25 pounds pretty fast and thought… Awesome am Rockin Here… By summer I will be the next big thing… God was I wrong and here is why.

In early February 2004 I was having a heart flutter (A-Fib). I thought well, it will go away, am exercising, am eating right. Well it did not go away. I went to the doctor on February 15th 2004 to talk to my doctor about what was going on with me. The office visit got interesting real fast. I was taken straight back to a room and seen by a doctor. They did a EKG and the doctor had seen a difference in the EKG that was done during an exam 2 years ago. The doctor thought it would be in my best interest to go to the hospital for further review. So off I went to Saint Theresa Hospital in Waukegan Illinois. This hospital is basically closing soon (it’s still open) I was admitted and the next morning I had an echo cardiogram done. My personal doctor came in to visit and stated my heart seemed to be doing a bit better and if the Cardiologist did not find any problems with my echo cardiogram he would be releasing me to go home. Well, within minutes the Cardiologist came to my hospital room door and sat at the edge of my bed and began to explain that they could not find exactly what was going on and that they wanted to transport me the next day to Condell Hospital in Libertyville Illinois to go inside of me and take a look. Well, the next day came and my heart was pounding hard and out of rhythm. I arrived at Condell Hospital at 10 a.m. and went straight to the prep room. The doctor informed me if they found any problems they were going to fix it right away.

(Wednesday) So off to surgery I went, about 30 minutes into my surgery or check up if you will. The doctor found a blockage of about 75% and I received a Stent placement. Well, the doctor told me this would fix the fast heart rate nor the rhythm problem and they world give me 2 days to go back into normal sinus rhythm and slow my heart rate down. It did not happen on its own!!

(Friday) I was taking at 8:30 a.m. to a little room with a bunch of medical equipment in there. My throat was numbed (I knew what was going to happen) the doctor put a scope down my throat (I was put to sleep). I never felt nothing and only heard one thing and was what the doctor said, “its clear there are no blood clots and we will be going on with the procedure.” (that’s all I remember hearing) I was then hit with the defibrillator and when I woke up (Thank God). My heart rate was 56 beats per minute and my blood pressure was 127/62. I thought awesome as I woke up with my wife at my side and I said a funny as I was still pretty much out of it from all the drugs (I don’t remember this) I told my wife that is it… Am tired of this being sick shit…we I get out of here we are going to lose this weight and we are going to have sex every night!!! OMG the doctor, nurses and other staff was in the room too!!! By the way, I passed out again… lol

(Saturday) With a little begging I got released for the Hospital. I left and went straight to Gurnee Mills Shopping Mall with my wife (Mrs. Kim) and had myself a healthy salad bar and a bowl of soup and we then walked the mall 2 times.

(Sunday) I was back to the Rec-Plex Gym walking the treadmill and I have never looked back. I workout between 3 to 6 times per week at the gym. I bought a bike and love the great outdoors…am still not out of the woods health wise, but am going to make it if it kills me getting there...and I have found a new love also…the love of helping others with weight issues… I read, I learn, I do and I share this is what life is all about Us the People. Friends Helping Friends. So, I also started a website for people with weight issues to gather and share any weight situations they may have…we ROCK and we are winning this life threating battle against weight.

We offer this website free to all to join and share the hope and success we have put together as a group. I hope someday to right a best seller on my journey and helping others reach their personal weight loss goals.

Best Wishes To All
God Bless
