Sport The Small Spaced Out Meals, Is It neccessary?

Sport Fitness
How important is it? is it neccessary to getting in real good shape...do I have to completely rearrange my meal times (my eating lifestyle)?

And could you guys just post the basics on a healthy diet, like what I should eat and when I should eat them. Because I am on a roll with my workout and I am easing real good back in to my running I feel like this is the missing piece and I have been told the most important piece of the puzzle, so to speak. :)

The diet is really the key to a successful training regime. If you search around here you will find countless threads discribing what to eat and when.
The importance of the frequent smaller meals is that it provides a constant flow of nutrition and it means that your body will store less, as it is always being fed.

And I eat white rice like all the time, is white rice bad? I mean man do I have to buy brown rice completely separate from the white rice everyone in the house eats

its much better for you. every little thing counts. but if white rice will help you stick to your diet, it might be a risk you want to take.

white rice is pretty starchy. it'd be ok pre and/or post workout, but I'd kinda avoid it the rest of the day, in favor of lean proteins and healthy fats, plus fruits and veggies. potatoes aren't a veggie though..their a starchy carb.

eating often helps maintain good blood sugar levels, and limiting starchy carbs and processed sugar helps maintain insulin levels. a sugary carb post workout isn't bad though, or a fast digesting starch like potatoes or white rice. if you go for sugar, dextrose, or malto dextrin is your sugar of choice, not table sugar or honey.

eating often also keeps you from feeling hungry, which can lead to bad snacking habits (since most convenience foods are calorie dense and nutrient weak).

*edit*

I would say its 'necessary' if you want to see significant changes as quickly as is naturally possible. Its still not an overnight, or one month transformation. but eating right and often really does make a big difference.

..by eating frequently, and limiting starchy carbs to pre and post workout meals (up to two meals after training).

the problem in america is we generally eat too many processed carbs, which causes insulin spikes all day long, and eventually poor insulin sensitivity.
