The SlimFast Plan

The SlimFast plan:

to lose weight you replace two meals and snacks with SlimFast products - they have everything from shakes to soups, pasta snackbars and ice-cream - plus fruit and veggies. The third meal should be sensible, but there are no restrictions as to what you are allowed to eat.

Weight Loss occurs through a smaller calorie intake, while still getting all the nutrients you need.

They offer free support on their website as well as healthy recipes and information on all the products. They even have products now for a low-carb lifestyle.

Last week I tried one of those SlimFast Meal on the Go Bars. They don't provide more nourishment than a snack-bar (i.e. Zone Bar). I couldn't live on two of those, plus one sensible meal.

I've tried the slimfast diet before, and although I did loose some weight, I quickly grew tired of drinking my meals, it didn't take me long to give up drinking my meals and threw myself into eating again, and of course, I went overboard and gained all the weight I lost plus some.

I've never followed the full plan, but I love the bars for an occasional lunch on the run, if I'm too busy to find something sensible to eat - especially if I'm on campus, running between classes - and Wendy's or Chik-Fil-A or Sbarro's just doesn't seem to want to work into my diet! And though there arer sensible choices at any of those places, I'm sure, I find it easier, more convenient, and less tempting to just open up a bar and eat that. The chocolate chip cookie dough are REALLY good!

I've tried this plan also. You are better off eating healthy, whole foods that you cooked yourself instead of this processed stuff. Whole foods are easier for you to digest and fill you up more. I eat 5 small meals a day - every 2-3 hours. I have a case of Slim Fast in my garage that I need to toss out since I will never drink it. I also only eat dairy maybe once per week now.

I was on the Slim Fast Optima Plan when I first started on this board. I did lose weight with it but unfortunately I had terrible bouts of constipation while using it. If you're going to use it I recommend adding more fiber to your diet if you find yourself having this problem as well. Take care. :)

I'll be starting in the new year. Is anyone on it or want to start with me?
Hi Sara06,

My company has partnered with Dr. Shari Lieberman. She wrote the book "Dare to Lose". She's been on Oprah, QVC, etc. She debated the Atkins diet on the O'Reilly Factor. She's been in private practice for over 20 years and has her PhD in clinical nutrition and exercise physiology. She makes is perfectly clear that you didn't fail the diet, the diet failed you! She put together a successful weight management program called Transitions which focuses on eating low-glycemic foods such as whole grains, fresh fruits, vegetables and very lean meats, also yams, sweet potatoes...all low GI. GI measures the impact of carbs on your blood sugar. Eating low-glycemic keeps your blood sugar low and also turns fat into muscle. This program has been EXTREMELY successful! I am implementing this program into fitness centers.

Please please please do not do slim fast...it is full of sugar and cannot be followed long term.

Dr. Shari is in the JAN06 magazine that's published by People Magazine called "Your Diet". There's a two page article about her.

I am really passionate about health and eating low-glycemic...which is the way we should be eating. I would like to help you if you wish.

I love the slim fast shakes & bars, they taste great to me. I don't use them, I just count calories. I was using slim fast, then started looking into calories & found out I could eat real food instead of just a milkshake of a bar. Its made losing weight much easier for me. Slim Fast is great tastes great though.

just started

Hi....I just started the SlimFast Optima yesterday -- in the cans. It's not bad, to me. It's very convenient, and for me, I had been skipping breakfast and lunch, then ending up binging at dinner, so this might help me get the nutrients I had been missing. I have incorporated light yogurt for a morning snack and a piece of fruit for an afternoon snack, then a meat and vegies for dinner. Hopefully, I'll see some results soon! Good luck to you!
