Sport The Skinny on High Fiber Foods...

Sport Fitness
Isn't it true that for a successfully 'clean' diet you must eat foods rich in fiber?
All I ever hear mentioned is protein and complex carbs, but what about fiber foods?

Look at the food pyramid. There are two main types of carbohydrate - complex and simple. Complex carbohydrates include starch and fibre (read the content on your food labels). Simple carbohydrates include sugars.

You need Protein + Complex Carbs (including fibre) + Healthy Fats not just Protein as some think regardless of whether you want to slim, gain or maintain. There are nutrition stickies above in the forum which you can have a quick look at.

As a supplement to what tribal has said, foods that otherwise fit your dietary criteria and contain fibre > (are greater/better than) foods that otherwise fit your dietary criteria and do not contain fibre.

Since almost all nutritional advice around here includes getting plenty of whole vegetables, fruits, and grains, fibre is generally not mentioned, as that would be redundant - most of these foods are good sources of fibre. And when eaten as a primary source of nutrients (in conjunction with lean proteins of course), will usually suffice to meet your need for roughage.

And, your passion swells deep inside your mind.....

Let is scream silent tears full of pride.......

The world may be made of steel and stone

Close your eyes, hear your internal music, feel the rhythm

Let it wrap around, take a hold of your heart..........

Never let it go........

And the pieces will finally fit.

They can never take this sort of passion from you no matter how hard they try: Its imbedded in the heart like a branding iron. They cannot see it, but you can feel it, hear it, and see it through your own eyes as your passion cries and your heart increases in size.

You are the prize and your passion cries.

Best wishes to you all!

Good stuff...

I guess what I meant was that lots of the food we come into contact with are over-processed and striped of fiber. Are foods that have labels such as "Double Fiber" add more substance to your "Clean Diet"?

Depends on how much doubling they do. I buy a double fiber bread that has 5g fiber per slice. All other regular wheat breads have 3. So that does add extra to my intake.

But if its a piece of double fiber white bread (if they even have that) that has 2g fiber instead of the regular 1, then it is not really an improvement.

Well then...

I am an excellent Fiber consumer because each bread slice I digest has a total of 6 grams! Haha, beat that!

I havent had good biscuits and gravy in so long. Especially after I found out how mom makes the gravy for it. That and my mom lives 800 miles away of course.

~whooooa...thanks for the correction sir....I needed it.
