Ok, so everybody knows we should eat fruit and veg, good meat, grains(not so sure myself but thats another matter), water, nuts, seeds, beans, pulses, maybe dairy but pretty much avoid everything else.
Every health resource eventually comes back to the issue of not eating so much crap and starting to eat good food.
So why dont we? Firstly it is too easy to get hold of crap- I defy you to go into a garage and buy something healthy. Also, there is a whole industry out there trying to make us eat all this crap. The world is against us- so what are we to do?
Firstly, I think it is important to get people on side. Get friends, colleagues and most importantly, family helping out. If you are all in it together it is easier, as a group, to shut out bad outside influences. ie. eating a healthy meal as a family.
Secondly, deal with emotional issues. Try and discover why you use food to comfort you, if necessary get a therapist and get to the bottom of your overeating.
Thirdly, people dont have time to make good food. This is something people will have to work out for themselves. If you are in a career where you literally dont have any time left to look after yourself, is it worth it?
Fourthly, eat properly. Chew your food, turn the TV off, look at each mouthful, savour each mouthful. All this will help you feel full. Being full and not craving certain foods will liberate you and allow you to make choices about what to eat rather than being a slave to food.
What can you add to this list?
We are killing ourselves and we need to stop. Knowing what not to eat is one thing, not eating it is another. I have given four tips, hopefully you lot can add some more.
