Does anybody have "The Master Cleanse" recipe? i feel i need a cleanse. i average probably around 3-4 bowel movements a week. the only thing i can find online is the lemonade recipe. with lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper and 10 oz of water. but isnt there more to it than that? like a salt water drink to induce bowel movements?

iwant to cleanse my body for about a week doing this then i plan to eat healthier after that leaving out junk and stuff until i can easily resist such foods. after that im sure every now and then will be fine eating stuff like chips or anything.

comments are welcome. thanks

your body does not need a cleanse - your body is self cleaning.

you need more fiber and water.. that's it...

i drink plenty of water. atleast a liter if i do nothing all day. summer time 2+ liters a day. but 2 minimum. and i eat alot of raisin bran. i could eat half a box and not eliminate for 2 days

1 cup of Kelloggs Raisin Bran has about 190 calories in a cup - and about 7 grams of fiber... if you're eating half a box in one sitting that's probably about 4 - 5 servings - which is quite a bit of calories... especially if that's not the only thing you're eating (it's also really high in sugar but that's another story)

Depending on your current weight - 2 liters of water could be low... 1 liter is about 34 ounces... while there's no hard and fast rule about how much water you should be drinking - it's suggested that it be about 1/2 your body weight in ounces...

I hate to say it but i agree with maleficent.

Only thing i could suggest is drinking more water or perhaps vegetable juices ? I've been juicing veggies and fruit this past week and they're really nice and i figure it has to be just as good as the cleansing diets etc. Not that i'm drinking them for that, i figure the extra nutrition will do me good.

I feel like I'm always the one endorsing questionable tactics...lol.

I have done the Master Cleanse and I really did feel a lot better and had much more regular bowel movements (at least for a while after, until I started eating crap again). I would suggest you get the book on it so that you understand what exactly you are doing to your body and what sorts of symptoms to expect. It is not a fun thing to do.....you will be hungry, cranky, and lethargic among other things, at least for the first few days. I would also recommend doing it 10 days, not 7 because the 7th day is usually a pretty "bad" day as far as feeling, but after that you really feel the benefits.

The salt water does wonders, but it has to be done the correct way, otherwise you are just putting excess sodium in your body. You have to take the laxative tea at night and then do the salt water (4 whole cups of it!) in the morning. After you do it you will need to be near a toilet for at least 2 hours....so if you have work, you better get up EXTRA early. You will probably need to make frequent trips to the toilet throughout the day as well....listen to your body if it tells you to go!

Also, you have to be sure you get the right ingredients. It has to be organic Grade B maple syrup which you can find at your health stores, fresh lemon juice (organic preferred), spring water (no tap water!), and the salt you use should be non-iodized. There is this natural grey sea salt that I used and it wasn't too bad. The salt water WILL make you gag, but if you can battle it the first 2 days, it will get a lot easier. If you can't do the whole 4 cups because you feel sick, just do as much as you can and try again the next day.

All this information is in the book, as well as the exact amount of water and salt to use for the flush. I don't have the book with me, but I am pretty sure that it is 1tsp (NOT tbsp) of salt for 2 cups.....so 2tsp for 4 cups. I would have to do it in 2 batches because I didn't have a glass big enough for all 4 cups (PLEASE look up the correct answer or go buy the book, I am not sure of these amounts). Also, I found that drinking the salt water through a straw made it easier...just kind of aim the straw at the back and suck away....count....focus on the tv.....do something to take your mind off the taste. The lemonade does not taste great either....I still get grossed out when I smell maple syrup now lol. But some people like it more than others.

Be warned: this cleanse is not fun at all. A lot of people try...and give up because they start doing it on a whim, therefore they don't have the motivation to finish it when they see how hard it is. If you really research it or buy the book and understand all the benefits of the cleanse, you are much more likely to complete it.

I hope this helps. Let me know how/if it turns out :)

i think i found the book online in a .pdf file. im at work. so this weekend when im home ill read it. i plan to start on sunday. i got some lemons, the salt, and the cayenne pepper powder today. i didnt find organic grade b maple syrup. how do i know if a certain brand of water is good enough? i always drinkg a brand called "deja blue" in a blue bottle. i've never seen it until i moved here to missouri. i know some brands turned out to just be regular tap city water right? i feel pretty confident that i could finish the cleanse for ten days. though i've never gone more than two days without food. but i did that and i was just drinking water. so i didnt have any nutrients and i start getting bad headaches.

i just feel like thsi would be a good start to a healthier lifestyle.

Please try to find the Organic Grade B maple syrup. It has a LOT more nutrients than regular stuff you put on pancakes. I am hypoglycemic, but I didn't experience any low blood sugar while I was on the cleanse, and I think that is partly due to the Organic Grade B maple syrup. Do you have a Whole Foods store near you? If not just look for some sort of health food store, or even order it online and have it shipped quickly.

Did you get the non-iodized salt? iodized salt is not good for you, and it will make it taste A LOT worse.

I wouldn't worry too much about the brand of water. I just used the gallons of Ozarka spring water, but Deja Blue is fine as well...it just might be a lot more expensive to use the small bottles rather than buying the gallons.

I'm glad you found the book. If it's the one I read, it should tell you that certain days are going to be the worst. The first day you are going to seriously crave food...not necessarily because you are hungry, but just because it is habit. The 2nd and 3rd day you will feel lethargic, grumpy, and probably have a headache. Try not to take any pain medicine for the headache, but if you have to, take Tylenol as Ibuprofun will upset your stomach since you are not eating. I had a horrible headache more from the caffeine withdrawal, but I've gone through that a few times trying to kick the diet coke habit lol.

Also, you will read about your tongue getting this nasty film on it...it gets progressively worse, and will cover the entire tongue by day 8 or so....it can also make your mouth taste bad. If you want to get a tongue scraper you can. I'm not really sure why this forms...the book says it is toxins being released, but I'm not sure I buy it....either way you won't want to be kissing anyone.

Make sure you are drinking enough of the lemonade. if you hate the taste, make a schedule and just chug it, that's what I had to do....I got pretty good at it too :)

You didn't say you got the laxative tea yet....I'd really recommend you look for that as well. I used one called "smooth move" and it was my favorite part of the whole thing....it has a really interesting, smooth, flowery sweet taste. It really helps. You will wake up about 8 hours after drinking it and feel some movement going on in you...you probably won't have the urge to go to the bathroom, however, until you drink the salt water. Though this can vary.

If you type in "master cleanse" in the search on this website, it should bring up "Lisa's Master Cleanse". That's my journal from when I did it this summer. If you want to see how the symptoms progressed or how I felt afterwards, you can look at that.

While you are on the cleanse, all foods will appear more appetizing. I absolutely HATED eggs before the cleanse. But then my mom was eating them pretty much everyday while I was on it.....and now I love them. So, that's one thing to keep in mind. The cleanse will help you realize how much your life revolves around food, and how you are stronger than you think. But it will also make you crave food like a mofo lol. So as soon as you get off, be careful you don't go crazy with satisfying all those cravings.

Hmmm...I have began exercising and eating healthier. I wonder if a "cleanse" is still necessary? I had a friend get a clonic and she said she felt a lot better after and it helped her jump start her healthy eating. That was two years ago...she's still eating healthy to this day. Hmmm...then again, I have had friends successfully lose weight and get healthier without it. Hmmm?

I had my son about two years ago and because I spent all my life quite slim I was upset when I gained baby weight simply because I just didn't feel like myself anymore, nothing vain at all (although I'll admit I didn't exactly like how I looked either) but mostly I just felt like I wasn't in my own body. My friends told me to try that Master Cleanse diet and I did, but I do love eating so I had a hard time staying on track with it since you only drink a mix of syrup, lemonade a few other things for at least 10 days. It actually tastes pretty good, but only drinking one thing can put off anyone. I tried and failed a bunch of times, but my friends swore that if I just stuck to it it would work great, but not even that turned me off when someone came around with McDonalds or birthday cake.

It was pretty rough, I'd never really dieted before and I'm generally pretty active, but I really needed something to kickstart my weight loss and get me back into shape and since so many of my friends recommended the master cleanse I started looking for help and did find something that really really helped.

It's got really great advice and tricks and I lost 10lbs in 14days the first time and 15lbs the second time I did it, not to mention I felt way better because I guess it completely clears out your system of toxins and stuff! Anyways, check it out! I'd be really interested to know what others think.

knock knock. Who's there? Placebo effect. Placebo effect who? You're drinking effing lemonade for a week, dumbass.

Listen, your body detoxifies itself regularly, and binging on some elite lemonade isn't going to make things better.

When people go through troubling experiences, they often feel liberated and invigorated when it's over. This is also true for lemonade binges. This DOESN'T mean you're actually helping your body.

Eat well, count calories if necessary, don't starve yourself, and exercise. And most of all, EDUCATE YOURSELF.

No joke, there really is no secret diet that will solve your problems. Simple, caloric math.

I think that the cleanse has some benefits if used for the correct reasons.

It shouldn't be treated as a diet, because if proper eating habits and exercise aren't learned, the weight will naturally come back. However, the if you research the cleanse, it has some legitimate information backing it up. I did it and I definitely felt and looked better.

The Master Cleanse has been around for years, I just hate to see it demonized because people are doing it for the wrong reasons and without educating themselves.

I agree.. the Master Cleanse is beneficial provided that you follow every bit of instruction that the cleanse has.
