The last 5 pounds

I've heard these are the hardest to lose, and I'm finding it to be absolutely true. It seems that no matter what I do, nothing changes. I eat low calories, or higher calories, or more cardio or more strength. Nothing helps. Currently I do 3 days of a full body strength routine, 3 days of cardio (usually about 40 minutes of elliptical, bike, and/or treadmill), and 2 days of a gymnastics class. I eat no more than 1500 calories on most days. I do have days when I go over, but I also have days when I'm under, so I thought they would even out. I am female, 26, 129 pounds with 20.3% body fat. I'd like to get to 125 and 16% body fat. Any help is appreciated.

You're caloric intake is relatively high. You're at 12 calories per pound of body weight. That's typically the starting point and if you're not losing, you drop from there.

Next time you hit a slump, I'd start tweaking diet long before exercise.

Just some friendly advice.

Ok, thank you. I'll try that. How many calories per pound of body weight should I be shooting for? I can seem to live happily on 1200 or 1300 a day so maybe I'll try that for now.

You're thinking about things wrong.

This is a process. You don't point in shoot and hope for the best.

Your current intake isn't working. I'm letting you know that you're not too low; rather, you're a bit high given your stats. With that in mind, simply trim down intake slightly. Maybe drop to 11 calories.

From there, see how things go for a handful of weeks and once it comes time to assess, readjust based on feedback.
