the final stretch

first off, i'd like to say hi. this is my second post and i'd like to thank you in advance for your advice.

secondly, i'd like to introduce you to my goals. i've always been athletic and active and never had a weight problem. but i'm a perfectionist and have never been 100% happy with my body image. i've come close though.

well, now i'd like to reach that goal. at least for a bit. i'd like to be able to say that i did it. even if for the rest of my life i'm only 97% happy, i'm good with that. but i'd like to say that there was a time with my life that i was 100% happy with my figure.

but here's the problem. i'm thin. and if i start losing weight, a lot of people will become concerned.

my goal is to eliminate the little bit of cellulite that's developed on my thighs. i figure, if i do some muscle training to replace a bit of fat in that area, it should help.

i don't really want to lose any fat anywhere else, but i'd like to lose maybe 4 pounds in the hip/thigh area. but i also want to make sure that i don't compromise my health by doing it.

any thoughts?

I don't know any of your stats so can't really give you any advice as to what you should or shouldn't be doing. It does sound like you believe the people around you may think you are doing something unhealthy by losing weight, so I hope you are more concerned about your health them a possibly distorted body image, but again, you didn't give that info, so it's just conjecture.

That being said, there is no way to decide where fat comes off, just where muscle goes on. That means there is a chance you will see fat coming from your butt or boobs before you see it come off your thighs. Read around the site, especially the stickies, and that will help you reach your goals.

If you are not ok with losing fat in these other areas you may want to reconsider your weight loss if you are already at a healthy weight and this is the only place you want to lose from.

thanks kayshiz.

so, stats...

5'8"
120 lbs approx
anything else you need?

i'm totally happy with my weight and my figure. it's really just the cellulite that's bothering me.

so i guess i should reconsider then? or is there another approach?

i'll have a look around the forum too. thanks!

I would definitely reconsider. Your BMI is already what would be considered underweight for most people. I would really discuss it with your doctor before you took any steps to weight loss. Your health is much more important then a bit of cellulite.
