The elliptical ?

I've done the elliptical a few times and although I assume I'm using the lowest, easiest settings, it's still a hard workout for me.

Any tips ?

Thanks !

does no one know? really ?

I always found the eliptical easy compared to treadmill or actual running. Of course, it emphasises some different muscles and may take a while to get used to like anything new. Just use a lower resistance setting and/or go slower.

Do you have access to the eliptical that has the hand pieces as well to kind of match the cross country skiing movement?

Next time you do it check to see if you are keeping your head level, i.e. not riding the strokes of the machine. If you are keeping your head level, it is what is making the exercise more difficult, but that also means you are doing it correctly. Also something ath may be causing issues is flexibility if you have been fairly sedentary for a while. Most people neglect flexibility training and it ends up hurting their bodies.

I am as flexible as a 2x4 and I find the elliptical relatively easy. Live, have you tried a different elliptical machine? Maybe that one doesn't work properly. If you are on the lowest setting, there should be minimal resistance.

I too find the elliptical easier than the treadmill. However, my fiance is used to running and he finds the elliptical relatively hard. If the elliptical at your gym is good quality, you should get used to the movement quickly. Just make sure to stand straight up, don't lean forward.

We got two kinds of ellipticals at the gym. I chose the easier one, believe it or not !!!

The elliptical is the easiest of all the cardio equipment in the gym. if you have no health problems.
