The Countdown to Mexico!!

Ok, so I joined the weightloss forum back in Oct/09 and have lost 25lbs. I've reached my goal weight and am feeling fabulous... now I need to firm and tighten it all up ;) I'm starting this journal to track my progress over the next 2 1/2 months b/c we have booked a trip to Mexico on the 18th of July and I want to wear a bikini!!!!

My diet is really pretty good. I still have trouble with night time snacking, but I'm so much better than I used to be. I eat a well balanced diet with as little processed and sugars as I can.

I am fairly active but have lots of room for improvement!! I LOVE yoga, running and weights. I try and start my day with a yoga practice... I run 3times a week and try to get to the gym 2-3 times a week for the weight machines. I have 2 young kids so I can be really difficult and I admitt I use them as an excuse more often than I should ;)

My goals for the next 10 weeks is to get rid of the "mommy tummy", tone and firm my "thunder thighs" as well as the rest of me. I believe my body fat % is around the mid 20's, and I think it needs to be around 18% to really see definition.

I know I have a lot of work ahead of me but am really excited for the challange. Any tips, advice, comments, etc are more than welcome. Thanks :)

What percentage of your diet in calories are your proteins, carbs and fats? If you can't answer that question, you might want to consider weighing/tracking your food so that you can.

I try and keep them equal. 1/3 lean protien, 1/3 whole grain carbs (little to no sugars), 1/3 healthy fats and lots of fruit and veggies. My one total weakness is dark chocolate, but it used to be McDonald's so I think I'm doing pretty good ;)

Ran 3.15 miles tonight with my running group. I can't believe how much better running outside it. I LOVE it!!! We ran hills though which I found really tough, in a great way. Now I going to have my favorite post workout snack. Cottage cheese with a banana and honey... yum!!!

^ Yep, running outside, especially with a group, can be so much more enjoyable than running on a treadmill.

What's your resistance training program look like, since that's what will do the most to transform your shape while maintaining a good weight?

I was thinking the same thing. Lately I've been slacking on the weights b/c I've gone all gungho (that's a word right ;) ) on the running. I generally do a full body machine circuit 2-3x/wk. I lift my max weight, 3sets of 8reps.

Congratz on the 25lbs, weight loss of any kind can be daunting. And you're so right, dark chocolate is much better than mcdonalds!! LOL!

10 weeks, aye? Let's rock it out, you can so have what you want, you just gotta go get it. Post up your diet each day and your workouts, we'll be here for you.

Thanks so much for the support. I read this before leaving for the gym this morning and it was so motivating :)

So yes, I did make it to the gym this morning. I don't usually go Wed, but my schedule allowed for it. I had the little one with me though had to make it quick. My butt is SO sore from running the hills last night... and I did a quick 10min squats routine in the am that I haven't done in a while and I'm feeling it today ;) I di 20min on the rowing machine and then all the upper body machines. I couldn't bring myself to lift lower body, I'm just too sore... but I did do some free weight bi/triceps holding a deep squat just to get them moving. Did a really good ab workout and then spent a good 15min stretching... I really needed it!!!

Had a slice of homemade sugar free banana bread with raw cocao, with almond butter and honey for breakie, a lg black coffee and egg salad wrap from Timmy's after the gym and just made a veggie burger on whole grain pita with romaine and a sauce made with Epicure dill, plain yogart and mayo.

Feeling really sore today!! I usually go to the gym Thursday mornings as the little one is in preschool, but I've decided that vacumming and laundry will have to be the workout of choice today ;) I run tonight too so it's all good... and I really want to get a yoga practice in to stretch out!!

I made a small pig of myself last night :( Made this great ckn stir-fry for supper. My hubby was trying to convince me that we should go out for ice cream and I was really good and said "NO"!! But then of course I was REALLY craving the ice cream and there was still some old fat free double chocolate stuff in the freezer....... so I finished it :p My body was NOT happy with me!! I was so bloated all evening. You'd think a girl would learn.

Oh well, today is a new day and the vacumn is calling me ;)

Just reading about your "25" !
I like your balanced way of eating. Heck, everybody likes dark chocolate - (wink).
Go Grrl. Keep up the good work and habits. :jumping:

Ran my BEST RUN YET last night!!! I had a very emotional day and tried very hard to find an excuse not to go ;) I am so glad I didn't listen to my head. I was the hardest trail run we've done yet and all the girls in my group mentioned after that I had done so much better. SO proud of myself.

After... on the other hand... ;)) It was my gf's b-day so I took her out for a drink after my run. We had a chocolately trio of desserts and I also had a hot chocolate think with whipped cream and liquor... yummm ;) Anyway, the whole way home I thought it was going to have to pull over and throw up. My body is just not used to that much sugar anymore. I had a big glass of water and was fine, but it was really interesting to have such a negative reaction. Proves to me that I'm doing the right thing by limiting the sugars!!!

OMG, what a crazy week!! My dad had a heart attack... he's doing really well, but it was horribly scary for a while. The worst part was being so far away. He's in Saskatchewan and I'm in BC... about 13hrs b/w us. I've been able to talk to him on the phone but I can hardly wait to see him next mth. It was a real eye opener as far as cardio workout is concerned. I've been so focused on the weights lately, thinking cardio was not really something I needed... especially for my heart... I mean, I'm only 31 right :p My dad is 55, very fit, and eats a well balanced diet. He had a 90% blockage in his left artery. Just goes to show that ALL aspects of physical activity are important... no matter what your goals are!!

My eating has really sucked too. I'm pmsing bad, so the night snacking is horrible. Luckly I don't have any crap in my house so my drug of choice has been cereal, Apple cinnamon cheerio's and almond milk... or fresh whole wheat raisin bread with almond butter and honey. Overall, just too many carbs right now!!
