The Beck Diet Solution

I see a psychiatrist once of month because I have bipolar disorder. She told me about a book and workbook called the Beck Diet solution. All you really need is the workbook. It is based on Cognitive therapy and helps you to build one new habit a day. You choose a nutritious diet plan--in fact you pick two. You make modifications as you see fit. It is supposed to be something you are able to do forever. I love mexican food and have worked it in twice a month at my favorite restaurant. The author of the book enjoys a snack every evening. The book talks about learning new skills. There are cards to read that are encouraging when you are having a tough time. One of the most helpful things for me has been learning to give myself credit for everything I do correctly and to not give up if I get off my plan. Just thought I would share...

the best part of the book, becuase it does focus on lifestyle change... it doesnt' give you a diet plan... you have to find one that works best for your life...
 
I made it through the first 10 days and started over. Changing 40 years of bad habits in a week was impossible for me. It has been better this time. I took two days to accomplish some things. You are correct about not having a diet plan. I found a cook book for Diabetics and Heart Patients. I have NEVER been one for cooking but the recipes are fairly easy.
Remebering to give myself credit for the things I accomplish each has also made a difference.
