Thanksgiving blues

My good friend is currently struggling with a lot of things right now. After loosing his job and being jobless for a couple of months now, facing problems with his in-laws, loosing his house and is now getting back to where he started -- unproductive and overweight...I felt the urge to help him get back to the zone. Now here's my plan, I'm trying to look for the most effective and easiest way for him to loose all the weight and bring him back on track before thanksgiving. Any suggestions is appreciated! Thanks

There really is no "easy" way. Watching your diet and exercise. Exercise will make anyone feel better.

A healthy lifestyle

Tommy,
Focusing on a healthy lifestyle brings healthy results. Walking is a great exercise. A common recommendation in health circles is to make sure you get (spam removed). A pedometer, a very inexpensive tool, can help him evaluate how many steps a day he is getting.

As always, speak with your doctor before beginning any new exercise program.

The question is, does your friend want this kind of help from you. You can't get him back on track unless he wants to be there to begin with.

You can't make him lose weight if he's not willing. If he does want to, then the most important thing would be his diet.

However, failing that you can try to get him to help motivate you. I.e. tell him you need a walking partner/gym buddy/racket ball partner, etc. Frame it so it seems like you're asking him to help you rather than you trying to run his life.
