Hi Everyone,

Thankyou to everyone who responded to my post about me starting Cohen's on Tuesday, have to admit i am a little scared because i have heard some stories about how low calorie the diet is and that you only get to eat under 1000 calories a day, surely that can' t be healthy. I am just waiting for my information pack in the mail. The problem with me is i like food so i'm a little concerned that Cohen's diet may be too hard for me. I hope i can do it, i am desperate to lose weight, i have also heard that most people on the diet end up piling on the kilos once they have finished the diet, is there anyone else who has any advice on theses issues. Best Wishes Victoria

Vic, I love food & there is no excuse for not cooking delicious meals whilst on Cohen's. If you follow the maintenance guidelines when you finish the program you will not pile the weight back on. They are very sound & logical. That also doesn't mean you have to stick to the food allowed on the original program only. It's only when you throw the guidelines out the window that the weight comes back on. Why follow a program that works wonderfully & then ignore the advice given for after the weight-loss? Everything Cohen's has told me has been spot-on. It's just that most of us test the boundaries & then suffer the consequences. Luckily I have learned quickly. Iam going back on the program strictly on Thursday, am going to lose the 6kgs I have re-gained & then I am following the maintenance guidelines forever. Once obese the tendency will always be there to become obese. It's a little like alcoholism I figure.
You can do it. You will become slim if you follow the program 100% & you will stay slim forever if you follow the maintenance guidelines. Cheers, Cate.

Hi Victoria,
The program is quite low in calories, but once you are "in the zone", it isn't an issue. You seem to go down through the sizes every few weeks and so you stay really motivated. I have regained the weight I lost, but this is no fault of the program. I have just been through quite a trying seperation and sale of our home of 15years and I have just become a single mother (although this is easier than our life before this). I turned to food as my comfort through this time and I'm sure you can appreciate that no program is going to keep the weight off when you are shoving every kind of junk food, chocolate, lollies, chips etc down your throat at every available moment. I know that I am a food addict and I know that my weight is something that I will always have to keep a very close eye on. I am also an ex smoker and I know that I can never have another cigarette or I will start again and I think for me food will be a similar thing except that you have to eat. I must from the time I finish maintain the "Life After" guidelines (which are given to you when you finish) or I'm sure I will gain weight again.
The thing with Cohens is that it is the only thing that has allowed me to get the weight off, and I'm sure I am going to do it a second time and then I'm sure I will stay thin and healthy for ever and you can too!!
Sorry, I've rambled on a bit. I just get really frustrated when people try to turn you off going on something that might help you. Usually you find that they are people who have failed at the program and so feel that no one can do it. Just remember that different things work for different people and this might just be the thing that works for you.
Take care
Beck
