Tentatively saying hello!

My knees are knocking at posting so please be kind!

I'm a 34yr old stay at home mummy to my two girls. I've been over weight since childhood and have dieted for years but enough is enough. Last July I said I'm going to shift this weight and I'm not giving up this time. It's been hard but I had lost 2st then put a tiny bit back on. I'm currently 1st 9 down on starting weight but I haven't given up. I've continued to go to my weekly weigh in with slimming world despite the knowledge I've gained. Giving up is not an option for me. I need that weekly check in.

I know that I need to tone up too so when my neighbour asked if I wanted to join the gym with her I quickly accepted. She's had a hip replacement at 32 and needs to start the gym again for rehab. Given she doesn't drive and can't get there, I'm committed to going even when I don't want to because of her and once we are there she keeps me motivated.

I also want to generally build a bit of strength and generally improve me health

I have lots of questions so I'm hoping you lovely folks will be able to help me without making me feel like a complete idiot.

Well done if you've made it this far and thanks for your time

Hi there gymgirl, just started here myself to try and keep motivated after years of training. Age is letting me down so have to train smarter than I have been and listen to my body more.

I don't often enter the new member section, but welcome aboard. Those of us who are forum regulars can be intimidating with all our experience (and casual lack of sanity), but we also genuinely care about people's health and fitness and are here to help, so hopefully we won't scare you off and can be of real service to you.

Nothing casual about my lack of sanity. I am very attached to my long sleeved cardigan and comfy wallpaper.
Serious note we are generally able to answer most questions here. Goldfish is one of the best generic trainers around so if your goals are mainstream, which yours are and you have no major injuries etc. he will be pretty unbeatable. We are generally pretty good at knowing and stating where we have left absolute knowledge and are using educated guesses, which is useful if getting guidance that conflicts.
