Hey forum! Just wanted to introduce myself and throw a little out there. I actually got my personal training certification september of last year upon turning 18. Shortly after, I got hired by a gym and haven’t looked back! I have a powerlifting, football, and sports background with an interest in nutrition and some group training.

I’m ready to listen, learn, and tear up the industry one day, one lesson at a time.

Thanks for reading. Comment or respond with any questions or advice for a newbie!

Welcome to the forum, if you have any specific questions just ask :)

The biggest thing with personal training or coaching is to never stop learning, always be ready to expand your formal qualifications. A powerlifting background is fine, but if you want to go this way you should be looking at formal coaching certifications in powerlifting plus strength and conditioning qualifications, If you have not got a proven track record in competition yourself, get out there and compete to start developing some credibility. Also as it was pointed out as part of my University studies, elite coaches are judged on the list of preventable injuries suffered by athletes as much as their performance on the field or platform.

Basic personal trainer qualifications are looked on poorly in a lot of situations as the level of training is often poor and wrong. there are a lot of successful trainer out there that are poor quality but have a great way with words.
