Team Impact

Has anyone here heard of, or seen Team Impact? I forgot to write about them after i saw their show, but they were pretty insane. All of them were super beasty,One guy could even bench 800, and that same dude ran though a 6 foot wall of ice. O yeah and another guy broke 4 bricks with his head. donno if the bricks were easy to break or not though.

LOL I just looked them up and I can't stop laughing...

I have seen them before.

I have little respect for them for 2 reasons. Here are those reasons:

1. Most of what they do are stunts which do not truly illustrate strength, but technique. It takes a fair level of strength to do what they do, but not what you may think. Their stunts are for show like clowns in a circus.

They do this to get people interested in what they have to say, then when they have the attention of viewers, they present their viewpoint in a message and tie it to God.

I do not respect someone who resorts to trickery to represent strength.

2. As a Christian myself, I do not repsect their trickery in order to present what they have to say. It is dishonest and puts a negative view on their message.

On top of that, TBN is a network of false teachings which do not line up with original Greek and Hebrew writings. Rather than go into all of that and other such issues, I will just say that they have decided to make their own dogma and usually lean to word of faith theology which is present in Team Impact as well.

-But I digress.......

Team impact is strong, but not really how they appear. Most modern strongman competetors are stronger, and the strongmen of old were far stronger as well.

Why can't you just say that they're strong, which they are? Why do you have to add in the "not...how they appear...strongmen of old"? Or you could have even have flipped it around to "while they're X% stronger than most people on this forum, they're really not as strong as they appear". That's like hte bodybuilding knock where they say "so and so only deadlifted 700 pounds but looked like they should've deadlifted 800" and then we roll into hte bodybuilders not being strong rant

When have they resorted to trickery? When have they down played their Christianity in order to get more people into a convention center (that's where they were the two times I know of them being here and seeing them one of those times)? Why do they have to be circus clowns because they entertain people and have a good message? I don't know of one person who has gone to see them that came out saying "wow, I didn't know they were Christians when I went to see them."

Carmen has huge shows with lights, special effects, costume changes, etc etc etc and then spreads the Gospel...I guess he's a clown too?

I guess their strength isn't functional enough for you. Snapping handcuffs, breaking ice, log pressing, etc that they do requires no strength.

I saw those guys on TV. Those dudes are pretty strong. But personally, I'd rather see Team America:

Or maybe Team Punishment:

Or the ultimate team - The A-Team. I hear B.A. Baracus can tear a gold chain in pieces. :D

Why can't YOU just let me post without trolling every subject I comment on just to argue with me?

I said they were strong.

When someone IS strong, and tries to perform illusionary tactics to make themselves appear MORE strong, I have no respect for them. It is a matter of decieving the public for ego's sake. If you have a problem with my statement on that check YOUR ego, not my post.

-I just addressed that. The simple fact a display of strength being played up for more than it is by illusion or deception is trickery.

Add a supposed Christian message while doing so undermines the message. I said this before, but you are always too taken with trying to argue with me that you do not think about what I post.

It is the same as anyone else who attaches their faith to their business. Christianity should never be attached to one's income by nature of the fact the faith is compromised. It says "Look at me, I am the best at these things because I am a Christian" -according to the common non-Christian audience member. If you want to perform, GREAT. Do so. If you want to be in the service of God, GREAT do so. But, at all costs, keep the faith something that is completely non-connected to the income stream. The faith is something that is ALL of who you are, not what you do to make money.

Carmen has huge shows with lights, special effects, costume changes, etc etc etc and then spreads the Gospel...I guess he's a clown too?

Since I have no infomation on those shows, I cannot comment. If he is deceptive in the shows, or claims he can do all these special things by special qualities given by God, then he subverts the faith. All men are creatures of God and nobody is superior to anyone else as such. To claim one of us special by God's hand is to claim superiority by authority of God. That is unBiblical.

Snapping handcuffs can be faked.

Breaking ice the way they do is not all strength, but a function of speed and other factors as well. -Is it a martial arts display or strength display?

Log pressing is strength, sure.

I think the issue with your post is not the topic at hand, but more of how you simply do not like ME and have to dig in anywhere you can to show it.

Do take note, however, you don't see me trying to insult YOU of following YOU around on your posts and requoting things you say as you do me. -As in quoting my "I digress" phrase just to mock me in other threads.

Since I haven't taken the time to figure out how to pick apart individual statements, I'll just do the best I can to be relevant.

Why does it have to trolling because I post disagreements with you? I can only think of 3 threads I have disagreed with you and have posted as such. And why do you get so upset when I disagree with you? Would you rather I just didn't post anything when I disagree with others? Do you do that? Do I call you a troll because you disagree with others?

People go to see Team Impact pick up heavy stuff, lift heavy stuff, break stuff, and etc. And this is what the public gets. The public also is of the understanding that they bring a Christian message. And this is also what the public gets. I'm not sure why you think that they shouldn't receive some income from what they do. I'm sure that there is some cost involved in travel, setting up, paying others for their services in helping with setup, and etc. Evangelists do what they do in the service of God and this is how they make an income. When one is in an aspect of ministry work, well, this is their faith and the way they support their family in many cases.

The time I have seen Team Impact they made it very clear that a lot of their stunts required technique over strength and an individual could hurt themself if they didn't have the proper technique. Blowing up the hot water bottle comes specifically to mind. They have also been very clear that they do what they do because they feel God has led them to do what they do...not that they are anymore special than anyone else or that no one else can do what they do.

I'm surprised that you don't know who Carmen is.

Yes, martial arts feats are technique over strength; there's no debate there.

Don't tell you don't believe that God gives individuals special talents to use. If an individual uses these talents and gives credit to God, then where's the problem? I was invited to Mercy Me and Audio Adrenaline tonight; both groups gave props to God for their musical talents and leading them in the direction they had gone. But it seems the way you look at it, this is not mutual inclusive and the message they are bringing should be excluded from part of the show. I was given a ticket to go by a friend who was also given the tickets but financial support has to come from somewhere to defray costs that I listed previously and etc.

On a last note because this is prob. a meaningless debate at this point is you're not the only one who digresses. I have posted "but I digress" in my posts before and I do it often enough in the classroom. So, don't get yourself upset thinking I'm mocking you. I might disagree with you at times, but I'm not simply going to go around insulting you.
