Targets

I posted on here last year but only did my workout for about a month because of injuries(not from lifting). After doing Defrancos workout for skinny bastards for about a month i could bench press about 155lb, not sure what my max was before i started.

I'm hoping that i will be able to get my max upto 250lb by march next year, is this possible or is that too optimistic? I was thinking it could be possible because i have grown so should be stronger

I will hopefully be starting again in about 4 weeks when i have recovered from a broken coccyx. Will i have any problems because of this injury with exercises such as deadlifts?

Thanks in advance!!!

Anyone? I have decided that instead of aiming to to be able to bench 250lb by march, i will try to do it by june 2008.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Just a yes or no would be fine

I would aim for 220 being optimistic. However, I think we need more details. It also depends a lot on diet and time your going to spend training. Eg. If you 14 and eating a lot + training a good 3 times per week with a good workout and then you hit a growth spurt you should be able to get there.

How old are you? How much do you weigh? How tall are you?

You might be better to try to gauge your goals by your bodyweight. First to bench press your body weight for 10+ reps. Attempting a 1RM before you have a couple of years of lifting experience could lead to injuries.

Thanks for the help so far.

I'm 15, 6 foot and weigh 155lb. I would be working out 3 times a week using Defrancos skinny bastards workout. I will eat as much healthy food as possible and might get some whey protein.

If theres anything else you need to know just ask.

You are pretty slim for your height, so unless you are exceptionally gifted leveage wise, you will probably need to put on 30-50 pounds of lean body mass before you will be benching 250+ pounds. Again, unless you are exceptionally gifted genetically that will take at least a couple of years. Just eat right, follow the program consistantly, be patient and in a few years you will be there.

30-50lbs!!! Thats alot, do you think it would be a good idea to get some whey protein to make sure that I am getting enough? I have read that i should be eating at least 155 grams of protein a day because thats how much i weigh in pounds, is this correct? Also my Mom thinks that if i eat that much protein i will get high cholesteral, is that right? (i don't think so)

30-50lbs? Seriously doubt that. I think you could do it just through increasing the weight and working hard. Your weight would increase anyway through exercising and eating right.

Its a relief to hear that, its only a 100 pounds more than my bodyweight so i think i should be able to pull it off!

Do you think its a good idea for me to get some Whey protein?

Apparently at our age it isn't necessary as we should be getting all the protein from milk and eggs etc. Wouldn't hurt though. To answer the bench question. Today I did benching for the first time. I did 200lbs but I held back a fair bit. I'm 150lbs (although weighing on the scales at my gym I was more like 160 but I'm not sure) and I haven't done it before. So I'm sure I could get it to 250 by August. So for clarification on the weight gaining, I really don't think it's that necessary.

Cool so your 15 aswell?

If you are that just makes me feel really weak lol
Do you play football? Do you know what the average weight, height, max bench, squat etc is for the QB on the team of about my age?

Thanks for all the help

Nah I live in UK. No I'm 14 (15 in July) I'm in 9th grade. No I don't. I live in England, we don't really play US football. Although if your 6ft your a pretty good height. I just think you need to get a bit heavier. I know I can squat 220lbs really easily, I briefly tried it yesterday at the gym. But I'm not sure how heavy I could do, probably a fair bit more. But then there will obviously be some people who can do a lot more. But then QBs also need to be fast, so they obviously can't be too heavy, which also generally means they will not be too strong.
Maybe aim for 165lbs body weight, 200lb bench, and 50lbs more than what your squat is.

Thanks for all the advice!

I bought some body fortress whey protein but when should i take it?
