Well, after spending way too much time browsing the boards here, I decided to give this journal idea a try.

-- How much weight do you want to lose?
5 lbs would be great but not absolutely necessary...I'm more concerned with inches.

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
No time frame...just as soon as possible.

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
Somersizing, exercising and counting calories

-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
Anyone out there with a good heart and time on there hands.

-- How realistic is your goal?
I'd say it's pretty realistic

-- When will you start?
Today

My story in a nutshell - gained 20 lbs in about 3 months with careless eating away at college. Lost about 15 through South Beach and Somersizing. My main goal is to fit into my jeans and shorts again from last summer and to flatten out my belly. I'm going to be posting EVERYTHING that goes into my mouth and I'm not going to eat anything processed at all including sugar free candies. I will also continue to food combine bc it really helps with digestion. I need to drink 64 ounces of water a day, exercise and STAY MOTIVATED! Hopefully this journal will help!

Welcome!

Welcome Magenta!
You don't have much to lose at all!! Is it 5 pounds you want to lose or 20?
Well you have a great plan...I am sure you will reach your goal in no time!
I just started a journal too... I too am more concerned with the inches...

So tell me, what is Somersizing? I honestly have no clue what that is....

Good luck, you seem to know what your'e doing so i sure you will do it really quickly. I find writing down what you eat really helps as it stops you from going crazy lol! I know how you feel about toning up, am going to work as a lifeguard this summer and i'm going to have to wear a swimsuit everyday to work!

ciaoana- Hey! Thanks for looking at my journal! I really only have about 5 lbs to lose, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less...I'm just mainly concerned with losing a little around my stomach, waste, and thighs so I can fit into my jeans! I've been dieting for a while now and I find this site to be so interesting. There are so many different ways to lose the weight...sticking to the plan can be the problem! :) Can I blame it on the chocolate?

Anyways, Somersizing for me is a great woe (way of eating) as we call it. It's oriented around eating non-processed foods. I love it bc unlike Atkins, you can eat fruit and veggis and carbs. So, first of all, think of it as a healthy woe. The second part is where it gets complicated. It has a lot to do with food combining. For example I don't eat protein and carbs together unless the protein source has absolutely no fat (like skim milk or fat free cheese). I always eat fruit on an empty stomach and I wait 3 hours when switching from a carb meal to a pro/fats meal. I know alot of people don't believe food combining affects weightloss but what I have found is that I am never bloated eating this way. It's great! My body can digest my food so much better. I'm sure the main weight loss is due to eating the healthy food but the combining definately has it's purks. Oh and I forgot to mention...NO SUGAR, CAFFEINE, ALCOHOL, WHITE FLOUR...you know...the bad stuff. All in all I love it! I can eat full fat cheeses, butter, cream (in fact we are encouraged to do so) and still lose weight! Gotta love that. Maybe you'll get a better idea of it as I post my meals. :)

favoritecrayon- Hey! Yes, I want so badly to fit into my clothes again...almost there. It's just great having a place where I can put my daily eats and be accountable for it!

So, I've been using fitday to track my calories. My total for today is 1203 which I feel pretty good about.

Breakfast : 1/2 cup Oatmeal, 1/2 skim milk - seasoned with somersweet and cin.
snack: plum, 17 cherries
Lunch: 2 eggs with cheese, cauliflower w/cheese
snack: 40 cherries
Dinner: 4oz of steak w/cheese, cauliflower w/cheese

So, can anyone tell me how cheating every once and a while can actually help my weightloss? Do you fluctuate your calorie intakes? Just wanted to know!

Hey Magenta! Thanks for stopping by my journal. I just read through yours. I'm very curious about the food combining, I've heard of it, but that is one thing I haven't researched. I think I'll go look it up. It makes total sense to me when I think about it. I know poor combining can lead to undigested foods and all kinds of digestive woes.

Do you have any good websites, where did you get your food combining guidelines from?
