Sport Take a look at my bulking diet

Sport Fitness
OK, I'm now into my first week of bulking. I'm lifting hard, only doing light cardio, and trying to significantly up my calories. But here's the problem: no matter how much food I eat, I can't eat enough calories! I feel like eating ALL THE TIME, and I still end up at only ~2700 calories! Will you guys please look at my diet and give me any comments/suggestions? I especially need help with how to "cleanly" increase my caloric intake. Thanks.

Bulking Diet

That bulking diet's similar to mine. Just wondering...what's you height, weight, and age? For suggestions, I'd say add in a pre-workout shake for more calories and protein, and if you love peanut butter as much as me, add it to whatever you possibly can. Cook with flax oil is possible for some good fats too. For a snack, or a side for a meal, add cottage cheese. It's great for bulking. 22g of protein per cup! Add fruit to it if it disgusts you alone. I can't eat cottage cheese without fruit. A friend of mine works at GNC. He gave me Cyto Gainer by CytoSport for bulking. It's 50$ for a big tub but get it, it's worth it! It has 870 calories from 4 scoops if mixed with milk, and 54 grams of protein! Hope this helps.

Thanks, that's good stuff. I'll definitely incorporate some of that into my diet. I can't have the cottage cheese though (I'm lactose intolerant). I'll also be sure to check out the Cyto Gainer at GNC.

I'm 5'11, 150, 20 years old.

Weight gainers, like cytogainer from cytosport, aren't a very good deal for the money. Sure it's good for portability and it's easy to do, but with the price tag you'd be much better off buying regular food and getting A LOT more for your money.

I would try making some shakes/smoothies if you have a blender. Frozen bananas taste like ice cream, but break them up into 4 or 5 small pieces. Peanut Butter that's already been mentioned, goes really well in shakes. Milk, fruit, plain yogurt, whey, whatever you want, but quite often it's easier to drink more calories.

Pack some nuts, high in calories, a small jar can easily be 1,000 calories. Excellent source of good fats, don't worry so much about the saturated fats. Look into high caloric dense foods in general.

I agree with AJP. The amount of money that you spend on weight gaining powders, you could easily get 10 times the same amount of calories. I understand it can be hard to eat enough calories before you fill up.

Smoothies are a great idea as AJP suggested. Bananas, milk, PB, oats, honey, yogurt, whey powder. Throw all that in a blender, let 'er rip, and drink it down. you could easily make that a 400-500 calorie smoothie no problem. and its a lot easier ot drink your calories.

your snacks are too low.

every meal should be roughly the same calorie intake throughout the day.
