Tabata Rest Interval?

On a traditional Tabata interval sequence are you supposed to come to a complete stop for the 10-sec rest interval?

I've read stuff that leads me to believe so but wanted some input from someone with Tabata experience to weigh in.

TIA

Maybe on some weight lifting type exercises, but i think when sprinting, you can walk /jog the rest interval.

I'd agree with the above. When doing resistance training tabata-style, I'd come to a complete stop for the 10 sec. When doing normal cardio activities (running, rowing, etc), I'd drop down to very low intensity movement for the 10 sec. Alas, in all the articles I've read on Tabata training, I've never actually seen it stated that as a principle the trainee must completely or should continue low intensity movements.

I agree, I believe you can do a passive or active rest -- it really depends on the activity you are doing and what your body can tolerate. Obviously, active rest will keep the heartrate elevated more than passive.
