hey everyone, im new so ill introduce myself first. Im sydney, im almost 20, and im a student. Ive been reading everyones diarys and i was so impressed and motivated by you all, that i decided to keep my own diary. My story doesnt begin today, it began nearly 3 months ago. i got on the scales (im still suprised they didnt break!!) and realised i weighed 18 1/2 stone!!!!!!! (about 250 lbs) I was a dress size 22-24. I really felt so bad, like my life is just passing me by. I wrote down everything i ate for a week, it came to anywhere between 5,000 and 7,000 calories a day!!!! i started eating healthier and doing more excercise but lately ive been feeling like giving up. I havent weighed myself since then but im down to a dress size 20, which is something. Hopefully this diary will see me get back on track!!!!

Start weight: 250 lbs / 18 1/2 stone. im mortified...

Start Dress size: 24

Goal Weight: 150 lbs, i havent been this weight since i was 11 years old!!!!

Goal dress size: anything smaller than a tent!!!:) :)

Short term goal: Big family party in exactly one month!! i really want to find something gorgeous to wear,so i would love to get into a size 18..and dazzle tham all.

Time frame: 4 weeks before the party, but id like o get down to my goal weight by the end of september, when i go back to college.

How am i going to do this: I really really want it so i am going to work soooooo hard with my diet and excercise.

Support: my family and friends are great, always with compliments and encouragement. You guys and this diary.

So now this is it, day one. Im gonna go have some breakfast and take the dog out for a walk.
 
Breakfast: Smoothie - pineapple, mango, passionfruit, banana, mixed berries and orange juice.

Lunch : A bowl of spicy vegetables with beans and lentils.

I had a 40 cal hot chocolate at about 4pm

Dinner : same as lunch.

I like to eat more in the day than in the evening because thats when im most active, but today i just wanted a light lunch so i split the portion in 2 and had one at lunch time and one at about 6 pm.

Im going to try not to eat anything else late this evenin, maybe just some green tea. I did my usual amount of excercise today, 2 20min walks with the dog and a 40 min walk at good pace with my mother. I might do some pilates later this evening, i havent done it in over a week so i need a good stretch.
Bought a gorgeous pair of size 18 jeans today, they fit, but i have like 60 lbs of flab hanging over the waist band ( not a good look on me). I have them hanging on the front of my wardrobe as incentive. Hoping now that tomorrow will be as good as today....

Today was a brilliant day, it was really sunny out so i walked the dog for an extra 15minutes this morning, and i didnt even notice. Go me!! Then i had a 45 minute proper walk at a good pace so im feeling good. Im gonna do some pilates this evening too, so i think im doing ok with excercise, but im worried about whether im getting enough cardio. Must have a look for that tae bo dvd, i cant remember where i put it.
Todays eating

Got up really late,i think it was nearly 11 am...so i had a smoothie as usual

had a big mug of lemon ang ginger tea at about 2.30

Lunch/dinner : Bowl of tomato soup (150) and a slice of wholegrain bread (75)
that was at like 4.30

Im gonna have some fruit or something in about an hour and some more tea.

Writing it down now it doesnt seem like all that much,but im not really hungry today, it must be because i got up so late, ( im usually up at 6.30-7am ).

Now for my really good news!!!!!!
I got the best compliment ever today. I was out walking and i went into the shop for a bottle of water and i met this guy i used to work with. I havent seen him in forever and by the way he is so gorgeous and such a sweet heart. I literally bumped into him (swoon). He said word for word "syd, youve lost weight! you were always pretty,but now....you look so good, really" i think he really meant it.I dont think i ever smiled so much in my life!! yay!!! really has me on a high now. Theres a big tub of ben and jerry's in the freezer (my sisters)and im not even tempted!!!!things just dont get any better than today. :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
 
I love sunny weather, i always seem to eat less and do more excercise on days like this. Got 2 walks and im gonna take another in an hour or so.Really have to stop saying im gonna do some cardio and just do it. I need to just commit to it. Ok, twice a week seems like a fair starting point. We'll say monday and tuesday mornings, that way its over for the week. Should i spread them out or does it matter? Ok enough of my rambling on.

Breakfast: a delicious fruit smoothie.
Lunch: Lettuce, onion, mixed peppers, tomato's and vegetarian chicken fillet. Split portion into 2/3s and 1/3, larger portion for lunch
Handful of pumpkin and sunflower seeds
A few grapes (like 5)
The rest of that salad.
Ill probably grab some fruit later too.

I was thinking that i should be drinking more water especially with summer on the way so im gonna keep track of that in this diary too, im not quite sure how much is recommended, so im just going to drink more than usual.
Today- 4 pints (that includes green tea, should i be counting it?)
So thats todays gastroactivities detailed, im just too happy to care about how hard it is.
 
Didnt post yesterday, i was too busy eating everything around me. Yep, ive had a bit of a slip. yesterday started fine, smoothie for breakfast, an apple mid morning, then i had a small portion of fries from mcDonalds which was fine, i mean no big disaster, then i got really busy running errands and finishing things up for college and i didnt reallyeat anything for hours. I didnt notice but when i got home at 9.30pm, i was starving and the girls came over so we got chinese food (a lot of it) followed by ben and jerry's, and tons of sweets. Ive had cramps all day from eating so much, which is just as well cause i really couldnt eat much today as a result.
Todays eating
Smoothie for breakfast
Sunflower seeds and orange segments at lunch time
A bowl of tomato soup for dinner
Water: 4 1/2 500ml bottles, 4 cups of green tea.
I feel crap, cant wait for tomorrow, no cramps and a fresh slate.
 
im back

i kind of disappeared for the last few days, ive been so busy. Just an update to say the diet and excercise is still on track, except for a few drinks last night. :D :D :D . im still kinda merry. Il be posting daily again from tomorrow.
 
Sounds like you are doing great! Wow, I think you've already lost tons of weight if you went down several sizes!

You are on the right track. Eating less and exercising more is very effective. Congrats on the compliment you got. Its wonderful.
 
Ok Girl Glad Your Back On Track And Just Think Of All The Other Compliments You Have To Look Forward To On Your Journey! You Can And Will Do This Just Keep Your Mind On That Goal!

thank you guys thats so sweet. I had bad day or two where i just ate all around me but im back on track now. Actually i was thinkng of maybe going on a detox for the next two weeks. a friend recommended unlimited fruit and veg and green tea detox. i dont know, it sounds like work for two weeks.
Todays eatin
Breakfast: 5 fruit smoothie
Green tea
Lunch: Wholegrain spaghetti in tomato sauce and veg.
2x 500ml water
An apple
a handful of sunflower seeds
A bowl of tomato soup.
I slice of wholegrain bread.

I ate too much today, im definetly going to do the detox, staring from tomorrow. Ill never lose more weight if i dont do something. ...
 
Sydney, some people do well on those kinds of diet, but others do not. The problem I see is that vegetables and fruits are initially filling, but after a little while you will feel very hungry, because they are mostly carbs and not protein, and fruits have lots of simple sugars. While they are great for you, it will be better if they are part of a healthy diet. If you are like me who cannot stand being hungry even for an hour, I would advice you against that, so you would not set yourself up for failure.

My advice - figure out how many calories a day you are eating now, and make a commitment to eat between 1200 and 1500 per day(depending on your caloric needs). There are many calculators on the web that will tell you how many calories you should eat. It is easy to do so, you're almost never hungry and you will be loosing weight in a steady pace.

Regardless of what you choose, I support you 100%. If you feel the need to "cleanse", go for it!
 
ahhh!!! i fell off the wagon!!!!!!!! ive been so bad the past few days. I havent stopped eating all week, and last night drank way way way too much!!! Im too hungover to eat much today but i swear tomorrow im right back on track!! its only a week to first goal, i cant believe how fast it came!!
 
Its ok, we all do fall off the wagon from time to time. The important thing is to get back on and keep going! You are doing fine!
