Switching up my diet and exercise

Well after reading some of Alwyn Cosgrove's stuff, I've decided to switch around my diet and exercise to help wave goodbye to these last 20lbs of mine (or at least the last 20 lbs before I reassess my goal weight).

Even though my diet is fairly balanced, I want to switch to something lower carb, reducing my bread/oats product intake and sticking to fruits and vegetables as my main contributors, but still focusing my calories on proteins like lean meats and egg whites, etc.

Also taking another cue from Alwyn, I'm going to try some weight training specialized for fat reduction. Large muscle group lifts, 75% weight max, 8-12 reps, 3-4 sets, with 3 or so mins rest between sets. This along with the IT and HIIT cardio I just started integrating.

I thought I'd give it a try for two weeks and see how it affects the scale and if it works for me then I'll stick with it for another 4-6 weeks.

Any thoughts on this?

Dont know what you're plan was, but this sounds good. Carbs should come from vegetables and fruits first. Bread/oats/beans are important as well for their fiber content.

What of Alwyn's did you read?

He has a good number of free articles on his site, and then I bought a q&a session mp3 for $5 from the thefitcast.com insider store. Before with weight training I was just trying a little of everything, as I'm kind of new to it since I only started working out the last week of November '06.

While I'm not really doing any of Cosgrove's hybrid routines, I'm pulling some of his general information and more strongly structuring my workout.

If you like Cosgrove, you would benefit from reading the New Rules of Lifting. The text is by Lou Schuler but the programs are by Alwyn.

Agreed with Tony.

Also I would give it more than 2 weeks, that isn't much time to really notice anything. Give a good 4 weeks before your mind is made up, these are solid programs here.

Thanks guys, first thought was my time frame is a little hasty, I'll try it for a month and if it works just stick it out until I reach my goal weight or I stop seeing results.

i just started reading this book today -it's interesting reading - how can you not love a book that the writer, in the intro says he admits he went to college to get a B.J. :D

(that'd be a bachelor's of journalism ya pervs :D
