I heard that Sweet n' Low, although a good sugar substitute, is also bad for you, or something like it make you feel hungrier? Like Diet soda would. Is there any truth to this?

Every individual is different...

you're probably better off removing "substitutes" for everything from your diet - from the fake butter crap to fake sugar - if you want the real thing - enjoy it -in moderation and don't use substitutes... just because you can eat more of something - doesn't mean you should :D

Moderation is the right word to our behaviour...

I don't like Sweet n' Low, by many reasons, - one reason is the small percentages of carbohydrate they have... and most person forget this.

It makes sense to me. Make a experience with yourself.

Why don't you use the natural sweetener like stevia? It's natural and don't have side effects...it's the best for the diabetic.

MYTH: Low-calorie sweeteners have an effect on appetite and promote weight gain.

FACT: Research on the effect of consuming foods and beverages containing aspartame, for example, has not been shown to increase food intake or hunger in children, nor does it indicate an increase in food intake in normal weight or overweight adults. (Blackburn GL World Rev Nutr Diet 1999;85:77-87). Additional studies in overweight individuals showed improved body weight when they consumed a diet that included foods sweetened with low-calorie sweeteners instead of foods sweetened with sugar. (Raben A, Vasilaras TH, Moller AC, Astrup A Am J Clin Nutr 2002;76:721-9). In fact, low-calorie sweeteners can be an essential tool in weight management when used as part of the caloric equation for the general population and help to achieve the calorie goals/limits of people with diabetes.

So carbs are bad?

Just if we didn't know, that carbs exist on that sweet n' low, and if we don't need that kind of carbs... wherever i prefere a natural sweet in small portion.

We don't need a big portion of that kind of carbs like we find in sugar (or white flour).
Many person avoid aspartame and prefere sucrelose or sacarina. I prefere brown sugar...but, if i choose...will be the sucralose, because don't have calories and special don't increase glycemic level. And are made by natural sugar.

*sucralose(splenda).

Many person don't count this carbs they eat on artificial sweeteners too.

Who cares if theres a trace amount of carbs in Sweet 'n Low??? People are overweight due to substancial overeating, lack of exercise or disease. Correct the HUGE gaps in your lifestyle and stop worrying about trace amounts of carbs in a pack of Sweet 'n Low.

Just because i have a pleasure to selec the best source of nutrients...if i had a intention to ignore this thinks, i don't change my habits... as simple, as that.

Trace amounts of carbs does not make Sweet 'n Low a bad source, and therefore should not be the reason someone should stop using Sweet 'n Low.

It's true... loool

Artificial sweetners are always bad source of nutrients... carbs and anything all.
We know their "possible" side effects...if we can eat a good source of sugar, with moderation...why not?!

Some person think they could eat all ...if they use artificial sweetners. One exemple ...a person how drink's 8 cup of tea and used allways a portion of artificial sweetners,...than eat a desert also with sweetners...and so on. I think that not good habit.

Stevia is fantastic as is using agave nectar as a honey substitute. I agree with the artifical sweeteners, I understand it is a lot less you have to use to sweeten the item you're eating but for anyone who has read the book skinny bitch or

NEXUS: Aspartame Is Bad! (this is a bit more of an aggressive standpoint)
Artificial Sweeteners May Damage Diet Efforts (this source seems to address the pros and cons a bit more)

I would say if anything its better to just cut it out all together, I mean no one should deprive themselves of the occasional sweet or treat but it's all in moderation like susana said :)

OF COURSE artificial sweeteners are a bad source of nutrients. People don't use Sweet 'n Low to gain nutrition lol....You use Sweet 'n Low to substitute using real sugar, to avoid the calories, not to gain nutritional value. How many people out there do you think use Sweet 'n Low for the carbs or the protein? You use Sweet 'n Low to sweeten certain foods without increasing calories. Also, I'm not suggesting using Sweet 'n Low with EVERYTHING you eat...I'm merely stating that Sweet 'n Low isn't a bad alternative to sugar, and shouldn't be considered 'risk' for getting fat.

- There are contreversies surrounding the healthfulness of most sugar substitutes, such as aspartame, splenda and high-fructose corn sugar...and so on. Use these at "your own discretion", but make sure to understand that these sweeteners are not natural, in any way, and may have harmful side effects.

I'm "against" artifcial Sweeteners... I don't like this substitutes.

Thats absolutely fine, there's nothing wrong with your opinion. However, there are controversies about ALL foods, such as protein...Some experts say that eating more than 50% of your nutrition in protein is harmful...Others say it's not....Many say carbs are bad, others say it's not....There are and will ALWAYS be controversies regarding health and nutrition.
