Sups for hiking?

Hey guys.. I hike a lot. I'm looking for some supplements that are "good to go". I'm looking for things I can take out with me when I hike. Specifically things that are going to enhance performance, endurance, recovery, and all that good stuff. I'm also looking for things to help me pack on some lean muscle while I'm exercising. Maybe even shed a few pounds.

I was thinking about creatine pills, a multi, and Universal Uni-liver (good amino supplement with B vitamins), maybe a fat burner as well. I've tried the universal animal cuts with some success. They seem to cover all their bases when they make a supplement.

Is there anything else? I'd like to be as discrete with this stuff as possible. I don't want it to be a big effort to ingest all this stuff. So anything that has to be shaken up or something like that is out. Maybe some sort of HGH spray or something would help. Would something like ZMA or Andro make that big of a difference? I'd like to keep it as simple as possible. A few things that will get the job done and that way I can focus on the activity and less on what I'm supplementing with.

Quick easy..and preferably in pill form.

Thanks in advance.

HGH spray? Let's start with how old are you, gender, lifting routine, and eating regimen before we start recommending hormone precursors.

22 years old
male
210 lbs and give or take 18-20% bf. i'm not as lean as I'd like to be.

I get a lot of outdoors things in. Hiking and backpacking mainly. I'm not the kind of guy who "just goes for a walk". I do pushups and pullups in the woods when everyone else is getting a breather. Sometimes I carry up to 50-60 pounds in a pack depending on how long i'm out there. Pretty regularly I end up going out for 6-8 days. Breaking camp each day and hiking anywhere between 2-8 miles a day. It depends on what we're going for and what camp we feel like reaching.

I'm also going to have access to a bow flex here in a little bit. I'm buying one used for a couple hundred bucks.

I wouldn't look into and hormone altering supps, even if they're supposed endogenous enhancers. They will still cause problems and leave you worse off than when you started. As for supps, I'd look into maybe a good multi vitamin and some EFAs. But like Tony said, you need to focus on your food/fluid intake first, the multi and EFAs will help very little.

I've been to various forums over the past few years asking people..and you guys here (after reading a bunch of threads) seem way more down to earth. I went one place and they threw out a list of like 20 things. I was like..holy crap, considering it was like 350 bucks worth of stuff.

I get plenty of cardio.. I just eat too much. I'm not taking anything right now. I've gone through phases of testing and I've found very little that worked. NO explode worked for me and gave me some energy in the gym, but I stank the place up. My farts were horrible. I'd be pressing and crack one and hope no one walked by to distract me. I know they would have smelled it..

Anyway, I'm basically just looking for stuff I can throw in a zip lock and take with me when I go out.

Any suggestions on a good multi (vitamin/mineral)?

EFAs, etc? Are there brands that people prefer or does it really matter? If anything I'd prefer that things were derived from whole food as opposed to some synthesized crap my body won't know what is.

Also are there any good protein supplements in pill form? I mean is it possible to get 10-15 grams from a couple pills? I'm not sure of the protein content in the Uni-Liver, but as far as everything else in it.. At least on the label it looked pretty impressive..and it's cheap too.

Are there any reliable energy supplements? I guess anything in that category would have to be some form of stimulant that in the long run would give me a stroke or heart attack. I'm just curious, because it seems like since the energy drink was invented there's been an explosion of stuff hit the market.

I'm not partial to any multi, but most people are.. and the same goes for EFAs. So someone will offer their opinion on a brand. NOXplode is mostly an energy drink with caffeine and some other stuff, way over priced. If you want a more natural energy source try some b12 complex before you go out hiking, again it's just a vitamin, but I noticed a little difference.

Home made trail mix man. :)
