supplements

ive never taken a supplement in my life (apart from 2 weeks of creatine when after two seconds of drinking it i thought i could run upstairs and curl 300 lbs i never got it off the floor but i did run upstairs)
My question is are they needed if u have a good balanced diet obviously i know u do need more protiein if u lift. to me its like diet pills too the over weight and ripoff merchants trying to cash in.
I also feel that people place more emphise on taking supps than actual lifting.

fresh food olive oil u cant go wrong

i also thing that eggs are cheaper than whey and they taste better

I think the question should be are they useful rather than are they needed.

I think suppliments are over used by people who would do better to just eat a proper diet. Having said that, I think when people start to get to a point where they've advanced a long way and have started seriously heavy lifting then maybe suppliments should be introduced.

I personally don't take anything other then protein shakes and I don't think I need to either but hopefully I'll be getting bigger and stronger in future and at some point I'll need to suppliment as my dietary needs will be far greater

Alot of people take suppliments and eat like crap. Thats not good.
If your diet is good then dont be afraid to take some supps. Protein powder can be cool because its cheap protein compared to alot of foods (how much protein is it in an egg and what does it cost compared to what that ammount of protein would cost if you bought it as a supp?)
Supps can definitly help you get an edge, but they are not needed at all.

I think avg eggs have around 8g of protein.

Supplements are exactly that - supplements. They can be taken to help you aquire the thing you require. If you are working out on a good diet, just to keep in shape then no, they are not. If you are training as a prof. athlete then of course, they are recommended.
