Supplements necessary

I have recently got back into weight training. But finding all the supplements rather expensive and not sure if their any use at all. I am on about protein shakes. Are they any good or not??

Protein Powder is essential if you are serious about lifting weights. Whey protein powder, it's pretty inexpensive. Don't get the marketed hyped up supplement store products, get it online. BCAA's... branch chain amino acids... which are decently inexpensive also and plenty of good food if your not already eating appropriately for your weight lifting endeavors. This is all you need as a basic supplementation program if your financially strapped. You have to be eating plenty of good food tho to make sure that you get all the other nutrients you need. 3 meals, 2 protein shakes (protein powder/h20 only) and take two BCAA's with each meal and shake.

Hope this helps some...

It is definitely possible to train without taking supplements. You just need to have frequent meals to satisfy your intake requirements.

Recently i join a Jim and my personal trainer advised to used a good supplement for better healthy results.Supplement gain your size and build your body in strong sense. Its helps to boost healthy body and a strong work system.

Supplements are not necessary to have a good body. Protein shakes are supposed to be some "wonder drug" to make you big and strong when in actuality, your body has a harder time breaking down the concentrated protein in whey than it does breaking down protein from a natural source. If you are meeting your daily protein requirements with food, there is absolutely no need for shakes, and as a matter of fact, you can buy more food's worth of protein with the money you would spend on a tub of "decent" whey.

All you need for a good body is a good weight routine and a good diet. Plain and simple. Don't buy into all the hype of companies pimping their products. It's all the same crap.

Of course high quality protein shakes are both good and convenient. About 20-25 grams of protein per shake should do it and balanced with high quality protein meals. (3 meals and 2 shakes) I also use
Ignite Workout Optimizer about 15 minutes before training and have insane workouts.

Hi All,

Why you are not trying Enzyme products? Enzyme provided different types of products. Frs days ago I have followed a website that provided only enzyme ( A to Z) products. Here I give you the website enzyme superstore.com.

I think that you can always do what you want to accomplish, especially if you are just starting out again, with real food. If you are going to spend money on supplements, make sure that you spend it on quality products that have a proven history of working. Protein powder and certain joint supplements are your best bet.

Yeah that happens sometimes when we go to buy all these products we gotta pay more but yeah if you visit your stuff online before buying it i mean what supplement you need Etc,You can get info about it through online stores which offers them in a very good amount you should see them and you will get help.

Hi,
Good question. I know that there are many people that believe in supplementation and many that do not. Here is a bit of information for both sides so you can make an educated decision....what is great is that the final decision is yours! No one will push you to do one or the other.

No supplements:
If you would rather not take any supplements, you want to have an excellent diet of fresh, whole foods. The reason is because you want to make sure that you are getting the correct amount of nutrients in your body. With weight training, weight loss, stresses, etc that are put on our body, it is very important to make sure that you have the correct levels of nutrients in order to handle everything you put your body through. Years ago it was very common to have multiple layers of soil to grow food, that would provide high levels of nutrients in the food. Unfortunately that has changed slightly and soil is not as nutrient enriched so our food does not receive as many nutrients in the growing process. You also have to be careful because a lot of times a company will pull the fruit or vegetable off the vine before it is ripe and put it in a green house for the last few weeks/months or add dye for the coloring. This also decreases the amount of nutrients in the food. An apple bite 50 years ago was so much more flavorful and juicy than it is now. So when you pick out your food, keep that in mind and try to stay as organic and natural as possible. Another thing to consider in order to not decrease the amount of nutrients received is how you prepare your food. The "fresher" the food, the more nutrients that will be available. As we boil and microwave our food, we are actually depleting it of the nutrients. Those are just a few things to keep in mind to help you if you want to not supplement but still get good nutrition.

Yes supplements:
Supplements are exactly as the word says, they are meant to supplement where your diet cannot fully contribute. With the above challenges that our food system has now, it can be difficult to get the nutrients needed. I can completely understand a lot of the posts that state that supplement companies are just trying to make money and it does not really work. That is true for a lot of supplements because a person needs to realize it is not the supplement that they are taking that matters, but the form of absorption that they are receiving of the supplement that matters.
Take for example a pill, it has to go through a very harsh digestion process in our stomachs with a lot of acid working to break the pill into a form that our small intestine and villi can absorb. This is an intense process and a lot of times that pill can stay whole during the process and not allow for any nutrient absorption to occur. In hospitals, it is often called bed pan bullets because the pills will just be excreted out. In those cases, the absorption and bioavailability is not present, so the person is not receiving any benefit from the money spent.
A person must take an isotonic-capable supplement to get the highest amount of bioavailability for supplements. An isotonic-capable supplement is in powder form and when mixed with the correct amount of water and drank on an empty stomach, within 5-10 minutes there is 92-98% nutrient absorption (similar to an IV where absorption is immediate). This is because the science supported mixture is the same concentration as the blood and other fluids in our body so it can skip the digestion phase and go straight to the small intestine and villi for absorption. So it really comes down to how a person is absorbing the nutrients and how much bioavailability is offered. A vitamin C pill will have the same nutrient content, but not the same bioavailability as an isotonic vitamin C, thus giving you a higher absorption and benefit at the end of the day.

A lot of information here, but I like to make sure that people have information before making a decision because there are so many different opinions and options available. Hope this helped!

It depends. If you are not getting any results from your training, taking a pill or powder, won’t be useful. It doesn’t mean that workout supplements are useless, but most people think that supplements attain quick results that’s the real issue.

I would recommend you to take supplements only to reach your daily calorie needs. A person who needs 200gm protein everyday can look for a protein powder to make it easier. A two scoops of whey can help him to get 50gm of protein easily.

If your traning is ineffective and you are not following a good diet, even supplements wont show you any results.

Before you decide taking supplements you need to figure out your daily calorie and make your meal plan depending upon that. if you can’t reach your calorie, at that time you can look for supplements based on your nutritional need.

If you are composed of your training and taking care of nutrition, then you can think of using certain supplements to enhance your fitness routine: Protein Powder, Creatine, Multi-Vitamins, Fish Oils..

To answer the question, the simple answer is no. Now if you have deficiencies then getting supplements for them is alright. A friend of mine got diabetes from all that protein shakes so i say be moderate if you go into body building or anything close to that with supplements.
